My Cat has been acting strange lately. He’s always been one to stay very close to the house - we live on 2 acres. He will explore around the bamboo trees and in the garden but he always comes when I call him. He’s indoor and outdoor. I prefer he be just indoor but it’s very clear he doesn’t want that.

The past week or so I’ve had a hard time getting him to come in. And I don’t know where he’s going. Saturday I let him out at midnight. I got up at 4:00 to see if he wanted to come in but he wasn’t at the door. I looked for him all day, calling him, driving around; nothing. We live in a rural area, lots of pastures around with neighboring homes not close to one another.

I had a call from animal control at 3:00. He was found in a trap, humane society was called and they tracked him by his microchip to our number. I picked him up. He seemed somewhat traumatized but the humane society wouldn’t tell me who trapped him and called them. I wish I knew so I could see where he had been going and why.

Do you have a wandering cat? What have you done about it?

        • So happy you got your Murphy back homeheartheart

I know how that is trying to keep your cat an indoor pet. My other cats I’ve had before have always been indoor/outdoor cats. So this new kitty I got I said to myself she is going to be indoor ONLY! worried So much for that! I have created a monster. She wants to go every where the dog goes so one day she was meaowing and meowing, louder and louder each time, so I let her outside with the dog. Well now she wants out all the time but the problem is, she wants in and out in and out. She will push on the screen door everytime she wants out and meow like crazy when she wants in.heartbreak My fault I know. But so far she hasn’t gone out of the yard. She sticks around the dog which is good.happy I do leave her inside when we are not home.

        • Hi Frannie! I forgot all about this thread I started when Murphy wandered away.

He’s neutered. And it seems like these days be’s just becoming a little old man. He stays in the yard. I usually find him on the back patio or in the garage. We don’t have any predatory animals - well unless a stray dog were to come in the yard. And good thing he also doesn’t want to be outside for very long at any given time.

Good luck with your kitty, Frannie! Sounds like it’s a youngster!
