Just another journey down the path of life...Well things are in a whirl around here...I went to see a Orthopedic surgeon yesterday and was told 2 of my discs are in really bad shape and I need a fusion..Some of you already know a little about this situation..I have no insurance and I am not eligible for state help such as Medicare or Medicaid at best I could get some food stamps..This is a nice offer but unless I plan on selling the food for cash it does not pay the money that will be needed for the surgery...Kentucky is a bit different than most states as far as laws go..It is a Commonwealth..Which means they do things their way...it is close to impossible to get state help unless your pregnant or a single mother with small children..My family doctor did send me to a group that does help with the payment for necessary surgery...It is called Vocational Rehabilitation. How it works is you go see a surgeon who is in the program and if it is decided you need surgery then the doctor and the head of the program hash out what is the most they will pay and what's the least the doctor will charge..If an agreement is reached I get the surgery..But..I have to agree to be reeducated so I can join the work force (as if there were any jobs available) I like the whole re education thing..I am going to try to get something where I can work from home with my computer..That way I can lay down or take a break when I need to and taking my pain meds won't be a hassle...Down here it does not matter if a doctor prescribes a narcotic for pain, you will still be fired if you take a piss test and it shows up. So it may be a week or a month before I hear anything and then the wait to get the surgery if there is an agreement... Till then I can't do any driving, lifting, close to nothing..I am only allowed to sit up for about 20 mins out of every couple hours...cuz when I sit up gravity takes over and puts pressure on the discs...You know the saying when it rains it pours..well it's a flood here...My boyfriend like so many others got all his OT pulled and they discontinued his job at work and he has been moved to another area with that comes around a 4.00 per hour pay loss..Hiked up the insurance coast and did away with their 401K plan..This adds up to about half of what he was making before...about 3 weeks ago our hot water tank started leaking..Then it started leaking a lot...3 days ago our refrigerator died..Repairs would start at 300.00 to 400.00 ....so now we need a new frig..We did get the hot water tank fixed..."whew" 50.00 is way better than a new hot water tank...Then things between my daughter and I are really bad..She has talked to me once since Thanksgiving..We had a bit of a fall out..And of course the world is in the shitter...I know there are others who are worse off than us..I just needed to get it off my chest..And I wanted you all to know I might not be on as much as I used to be ... I miss all of you everyday..I wonder how you all are doing...((((HUGS))) Thanks for being my Friends...
