My boss had decided to make me Project Manager over all of our contracts: old, current, new, future
WTF!?? I’ve already told this man I do NOT want this job with all the headaches and hours it requires. HE is PM on paper, but I am PM in reality.

Little does he know, I am just waiting, just waiting for my anniversary date to roll around in 19 days!! He's going to have a Pay Increase form on his desk, filled out, waiting for his signature!!!

        • You may as well openly and loudly accept the position.... since you will be doing it anyways.... then he can’t say you didn’t.... then hit him up hard for the dolla!

        • I agree with Vikki. When you hit with the pay increase form make sure to have listing of all your new responsibilities so he can’t argue!

        • Term.......I was always told to never turn down a promotion (if you will), yes I think you should take it do it for a while and then hit him with a salary increase.  He obviously thinks your well qualified!!!  I’ve been salary before so I do understand where you are coming from.

        • I would just be worried that you are doing all that work and may not be getting paid for it. If it doesn’t roll with your lifestyle I wouldn’t accept a salary position either. So what’s the salary? Can it be broken into an hourly rate? Can there be any perks like work from home? (To me thats a perk).
And again I would be afraid that at time of raise it would be held against you. Now you know your workplace way better than any of us..... so if you can get a great raise and not do the work of a PM then I wouldn’t either.

        • I hear ya’ Term. At my last J-O-B, I was the Marketing Manager for 2 companies - in charge of all the advertising, trade shows, new product launches, catalogs, etc. I worked 60-70 hours every single week. I was getting up at 3:30 a.m. so I could get into the office and get some things done before my staff came in and new things started landing on my desk. Then, I never got home until at least 7:00 p.m. or later. If I wanted to take a vacation, I had to work at least that many hours before and after just to keep up (and often took my laptop on vaca with me). Michael actually took a picture of me logging on to my e-mail and working on trade show details from the hotel lobby at Atlantis in the Bahamas - just to remind me later that I was working WAY too much! Of course, it was a salaried position, so I never got compensated for my time. One of my graphics designers actually made more than me because of the OT she was able to put in. Stand your ground, girl! And don’t let him pawn off his job duties on you. You have a job description. If he’s adding to it, it merits a pay increase - period.
