I love Mr. Murphy. But he’s just a little bit, well, strange. I’ve written before about his problem with attacking his tail. My husband calls him, “slasher.”

Last year I actually had to give him morphine for the pain after he couldn’t stop slashing his tail with his very sharp claws. I still have to give him a small dose of valium at night before we go to bed. Against my husband’s will, I decided that Murphy had to sleep with us or I couldn’t sleep worrying about him all night.

Even with all of this, he still, right around sundown, starts flipping his tail around. He gets this look on his face and then he starts grabbing his tail. I’ve had to now resort to bringing him to the vet and have his nails trimmed. The sharp points are what tears up his skin. They just clip the pointy tips off.

Anyone else have a pet with a strange habit?
