        • As someone who has gone through this with an only child - you suddenly realise how independent your child becomes - it’s like by Christmas you suddenly look at a mini grown up

        • heart Vikki, good morning. My daughter is now going to start high school but in 7th (first year middle school ) she developed mentally so much and it was very positive. The dances, the closer friendships, the 7 different rooms for classes. She had a wonderful experience (don’t forget the boys uugghh! Lol)
I on the other hand wanted my baby. Back. She is my youngest. But that’s just a mother thing. It’s hard to watch them not need you as much but very prideful to watch what great people you’ve raised.
My only advice is to keep communication very open I was lucky that way. For girls love drama at this age and I was able to help her make some better choices.
          Sorry so long estatic

        • Actually middle school with my boys wasn’t so bad....but I do realize it’s a lot different with girls.  Can’t help you there....but based on hearing my friends with girls comment on their experiences on the middle school level....keeping the communication open and stay on top of everything!! Pay attention to their friends!

        • I agree with Mary. This is a time when little cliques begin to form more often. We see it all the time at my husband’s school. He’s got a group of kids starting orientation next week. The class sizes are really small so the middle school head keeps a close watch on the kids.

This will be a really special time in her life. I know it can be stressful for moms as they watch their little girls grow up!

        • My daughter starts too.  In one way she is excited but the other she is scared.  She already has problems with making friends and I know that it will not be easy for her.  Good thing is that the school has three feeder schools going in so lots more chances of finding a good friend.  there are alot more chances for her also to find her fit in school too.
