        • I share your situation to some degree. My husband is provided housing as part of his job. Our home belongs to the school and we‘re limited on what we can do inside. I like to buy things that I’ll be able to take with me later like throw pillows, knick knacks, furniture. I also like to place framed photos all around so it’s clear that, while it’s not my house, it is my home.

Let me know if you get any good ideas. I’m always looking for them, too.

        • ZDCMAN:  If you can’t actually paint a color...then I would go with large wall hangings that have “color“, and add some cute accessories that are bold...something that “pops“.  Use some neat furniture pieces (that don’t have to be expensive) to add uniqueness and accessories add the flair.

Bring your color in with wall hangings, accessories, rugs, throws....happy

        • yes i buy things too.  i decorate with accessories.  plants, rugs. etc  i try and add my own touches to the things i buy when i am decorating.  i combine items together.  i try and use things unusually - i try and be creative.  i hang things up like unusual materials, rugs, catchey curtains.  i try to make my house look a certain feel.
