MY PRAYER FOR 2009.....

Instead of forcing myself to have a list of New Year’s Resolutions, which I may find myself not likely to follow, here is what I decided to focus on for the year 2009. Rather than call this my New Year’s Resolution, I prefer to call this my prayer for 2009.

May the Lord pour out His FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT upon me in 2009 so that I may:

1.  LOVE - May I learn to accept the love that others give so willingly to me, may I learn to actively show my love in return. May God open my eyes and my heart to love the unlovable. May I reach out to show others the love of Jesus in a world that is lost & lonely.  

2.  JOY - May I spread joy to others and have a sense of humor.  May God help me to spread His joy to the world.  May I look each day to discover the joy of all the blessings that surround me.

3.  PEACE - Regardless of the circumstances or situation, may Jesus provide for me the peace that surpasses all understanding.  May there be peace on earth, instead of war, disease and hunger.

4.  PATIENCE - Dear God, I pray for patience and humility, especially during difficult times when all is growing dark and stormy.  Help me to rely on you, Lord, instead of on my own.  Help me to take one day at a time.

5.  KINDNESS - May I continue to provide kindness to a world that struggles with selfish and greed. May I be more thoughtful and help those that are unfortunate, hungry, homeless, lost or dying.  

6.  GOODNESS - May I always be thankful for God’s goodness. May God open my eyes to see and appreciate all the goodness that He has provided for me.  

7.  FAITHFULNESS - I praise you, my Heavenly Father, for your faithfulness, for always being by my side and never leaving me, nor forsaking me.  I pray that I may grow stronger in my faithfulness to trust in you and never doubt that you are in control.

8.  GENTLENESS - Dear Jesus, help me to have a gentle spirit, instead of a hardened heart.  Help me to reach out to others with gentleness so that it reflects the love of God.  

9.  SELF-CONTROL - Most of all, Lord, show me how to have self-control so I speak with love, instead of bitterness or anger.  Provide for me the strength and self-control to be the gracious woman that you call me to be.  May my every thought, word or action be as pure and white as the winter snow.
