  • Natural Remedy for Adult Acne

      In this day and age, it is often common for adults to resort to medication for the treatment of acne, in a desperate race for an immediate "cure." In many cases, though, such treatment is unnecessary when there is a natural remedy for adult acne. The safest of all remedies for adult acne is simply an active lifestyle in one's own skin care. Soap, washcloths, back brushes, and even tweezers...these are the hallmarks of active skin care.

      Yes, I did say tweezers! A first and very painful step (especially for those with sensitive skin) to proper skin care is the unclogging of pores. Many medications can achieve the same goal, such as retinoids, but an unrepentant tweezer hand can achieve the same goal.

      Diet: Eating (or not) Your Way to Clearer Skin

      Healthy foods are one of the best ways to achieve healthy skin. Greasy food is a one-way ticket to adult acne, unfortunately. Fried foods, trans fats, and even vegetable oils should be avoided. Sugars and caffeinated products have also been suggested as aggravators of adult acne. "So what am I supposed to eat then," you may ask.  

      Well, it may not be what you want to hear, but vegetables and fruits are a great, safe diet that will not introduce any factors that will increase acne. The reason meats are not generally encouraged is because they have hormones, which are the prime aggravator of acne. An increase in omega-3 fats, such as those found in salmon and other fish, also promotes skin health, however.  

      As a wonderful side effect, weight loss and a general increase in mood may occur. You also save a good deal of money not buying greasy, unwholesome food!

      Tea tree oil is a 100% natural herb treatment for adult acne that can also remove and stop the growth of bacteria on the skin, perhaps being as effective as benzoyl peroxide. It's also a very pure can be applied directly to the skin with no carrier oil. It should be used in a daily regimen, as with most natural supplements.

      Vitamin A has been shown to reduce acne in women, as it can help hormone imbalances. Vitamin A occurs naturally in carrots, leafy green vegetables (lettuce, spinach, collard greens), and yellow and orange fruits such as peaches, apricots, and mangoes.

      Natural treatments for adult acne are also far safer than medical treatment. Proper treating of the skin should stave off infection, eliminating the need for such drugs as doxycycline and minocycline, both of which prevent infection, should it have the opportunity to develop.
