    • We are creating a small greeting card cottage industry for Shiloh as a way to teach home business skills to our girls in our program and create an income stream for Shiloh.

Do you have any advice or recommendations regarding teaching this topic? Curriculum, bookkeeping programs, etc., anything you have learned along the way that might make the transfer of information more simple and effective?

Thank you for letting me pick your entrepreneurial brains!

      Cindy

        • I don’t think I have specific answers to your questions but I have a few questions for you.

Are you wanting to teach Home Business? Or small greeting cards?
Is the plan to teach so they could make a fulltime job at home?

I’m sure someone else on here will be able to help you with more specifics....

        • Thank you, Vikki!

          The plan is three fold:

          1. Provide an income stream for Shiloh (money is always a big issue for non-profits)
          2. Teach skills to the young women that they can use at anytime in their futures (simple bookkeeping, time management, excellence in production, etc).
          3. Connect the business to the Shiloh mission, so that sales tax is a non issue.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! Thanks ladies!

        • Coach – do they have to be self sufficient when they leave you ........
I just wondered if you could also generate revenue and teach a skill which the girls have for life like beauty or hairdressing and maybe have a salon on the side – its just I'm sure you would find someone willing to teach those skills and the girls then have  skill they can take with them – same with cooking and maybe you have a cafe .....

        • Vicki, I would love to be able to grow to that level! There is an organization in CA (Delancy Street) that has all kinds of venues for their residents to learn and grow. We will have to start small and build up, or out. This is our “small beginnings“!

Thank you both for your comments. I wish you were closer too, Vikki!estatic
