        • Hi Jewels. I just want to share a thought. 20 years ago I was faced with the reality that I was/am an emotional eater and always had been. A counselor suggested I check out Overeaters Anonymous and I really resisted. I thought I wasn’t heavy enough or out of control enough and they’d laugh me out of the room. I finally went and stayed in that group for a couple of years. I found camaraderie, support, understanding and some darn good ideas in that place. It set a nice foundation for me all these years. I’m not perfect by any means but I recognize now when I’m using food for something other than its purpose.
          Hope this helps
          Cynthia

        • I feel your pain—I’m SO there myself!  Icing on the cake, I work in a career field that chose ME rather than me choosing it, and I’d SO love to get out of it because I end up doing the “mom” thing there, too (e.g. meeting everyone else’s needs instead of my own, though I guess it stands to reason when you‘re in social services!).

        • Now is the time in our lives to decide if we don’t like something, we need to change it. Emotional eating can be overcome. Weight managment is a mind-body-spirit undertaking. We can control our thoughts, which control our feelings, which in turn control our actions. One of my favorite authors is Shad Helmstetter. He has a couple of great books, but start with “What to Say When You Talk to Yourself“. He explains how to change thought patterns so that you can change YOU. Whether it is your J.O.B. or your weight...You have the power within you to change what you don’t like. And if we don’t... it is nobody’s fault but our own.

          Sharing Hope,

          Dee Dee
