Does anyone have wild creatures roaming about their homes? We have deer, pheasants, pigs, sometimes cattle that escape their pastures and stand in the middle of the road, and I swear that Hawaii’s state bird should be the chicken. They‘re everywhere. These two little orphans showed up at my house when they were only a week or so old, along with all the other chickens that we have running free, but today I found one of them in the house! I saw the other and since they are usually together, I got suspicious and started looking around. Just part of living in the wild!

Do you have any creatures around your place?

        • My husband’s uncle and aunt lived in Kona.  They have a rooster roam into their house all the time.

I live nearby a canal - there are birds, rats, woodpecker, ducks, etc.  Many time the ducklings go into our yard that is fence.  We have to catch them before my dogs kill them.

        • I have bunnies hopping thru my yard, deer are abundant in the area and there is a donkey that lives down the street. There may be other wild life but I refuse to think about it.

        • We have geese that like to wander around in herds as well as foxes, coyotes, chipmunks, woodchucks, doves, and an occasional deer. Did I mention we live in the burbs? LOL

        • We have rabbits....and just around the corner is where the deer are.  My community is on the Savannah River so...lots of wildlife around here...just not all in my yard...thank goodness.

        • Last week I was cleaning our yard and found a tortise in our backyard.  I found out it was my neighbors.  It had somehow managed to get past the gate and over our yard.  She said she hadn’t seen him in a while, but hadn’t worried, because he hibernates in the winter.  Needless to say when I was pulling my plants out to clean around my pots and saw a turtle shell it came as a big shock.

Which Island do you live on in Hawaii?  My sister went to Kauai (sp?) and she said the Island had chickens everywhere there as well.  I will be visiting there in October.  Maybe we can see each other then.

        • We have deer, rabbits, coons, possums, squirrels, ducks, geese and foxes around our place, but my favorite is the eagles.  They hunt on our little lake, and its so beautiful to watch them in the spring teaching their young to fish.
