      How much protein do you try to get each day?  I’m vegetarian (not vegan)so I’ve found this to be my biggest struggle.  A year ago I was very ill and I lost 40lbs in two months...mostly muscle.  I’ve gained most of it back (unfortunately) but I can guarantee that most of it is not muscle.  I usually have a protein shake every morning.  But I wondering how much is enough...

        • My weight seems to be better when I eat a little protein with each meal. Soy milk or cheese, Steamed Edamame, Fish on top of a salad. I’m not a vegetarian but I feel better when I choose fish or soy over meat. Seems to digest better. I read in a clinical nutrition book from a class I took that I need around 50 grams of protein a day.

        • Also, when you look at calories and protein grams, it’s 4 calories per gram so 50 grams of protein is only 200 calories of your daily total. Not bad.

        • Wow...50 grams.  I’m not getting anywhere close to that number.  I’ll make that my goal.  Perhaps I’ll start noticing some health improvements if I give my body what it needs.
