Why is it that when it comes to my kids, my husband and others, its so easy for me to pamper them and not think twice about giving 200 percent of myself to them, but when it comes to pampering me, I skimp on myself and cut corners.
I have to learn, or teach myself how to treat myself nicer.

Im also having a hard time adjusting to being in my 40s, why is that aging kind of a scary thing for me????
Ive felt this way since i turned 40 last year (?)

Im sure ill figure this all out just wondering...

        • I completely understand and I bet so many of us on this site do, too. Thank you for putting the thought out there for all of us to ponder. You‘re in good company here!

        • Cocofix41,

I have felt this way for so long myself, I think it’s something with women where we put others before our self. We have to learn to value us more and give all that attention we give to others back to our self.

        • So true!  I think youre absolutely right .

If we as women could do just one thing a day just for ourselves , it would make such a difference.

I also think that as women, its healthy for us to take the time out of our day or week, to do something special for ourselves, it gives us something special to look forward to.

For me I love drawing, talking to my sister over the phone, watching a favorite television show, even going to the drugstore and buying a tube of lipstick and a magazine , going to my favorite book store getting a stack of magazines to read in a big comfy chair over a cup of ice coffee and NO KIDS SAYING MOMMY MOMMY MOMMY CAN I for just an hour.  Ill bet that would rejuvenate me right up! LOL!
I need to do more of that.

        • I just finished a class on depression.  And one of the things they taught us is that you need to do something nice for yourself everyday, even just a little thing if it brings you joy.  Otherwise, at some point you have spent all your energy on those around you and you have nothing left to give which can lead to depression.  You have to take care of yourself first and then you can take care of others. (I don’t mean that in a selfish way)

        • Lisa, I didnt know they gave classes on depression, but your info sounds right on target. Women seem to give and give until we have nothing left .

        • thank you for addressing this age old problem of the female sex doing everything for everybody!!!

I once heard that if we think of it sorta as a bank account..........we cannot keep giving unless there is something in there..........so if we take care of number one....us.....then thats like making a deposit in our account so we can then give to others..

maybe in a nut shell........lots of us are simply overdrawn....

        • Vicky, you mean that if I still have checks in my checkbook I don’t necessarily have money in the account?? LOL Just kiddingestatic

I like the idea of thinking of it as a bank account. A deposit has to be made before a withdrawal. That’s good!
