Ya’ll need to spend time in the GREAT SOUTH. It’s more funner than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick! To listen to people talk and the slang they use is so interesting. Even though I admit I am a TRUE BLUE SOUTHERN GAL, BORN AND BRED! Go ahead make fun of us! But, you can’t get no better eatin or Bon Temps Rouler (Let The Good Times Roll) ANYWHERE!
Pouty you‘re funny! The southern cooking is good however my Dr would argue about eating any of it.

When I was a kid we wore toboggans on our heads during the winter. When I moved to PA we bought toboggans for the kids to ride in the snow. So, down south toboggans are HATS and up here they are SLEDS! giggle
Y‘all I want me some baked beans, taters, slaw, biscuits and gravy, corn bread, green beans, fried apples, deviled eggs, ham, fried chicken and soup beans to go with it. YUMMY! This is why I’m overweight!

And it’s not “soda“...in the south..everything is “coke“.
Somebody says “soda” to me and I’m thinking they are talking about “baking soda“.....

Now listen folks....you don’t have to live in the south to be a redneck....
I’ve had some transplants come into my office before and they were as redneck as they could be...maybe even worse!!!!!!!
So it’s not a geographical thing.....
You guys......(shaking my head)...... it’s okay....we’ll deal with it if we must....LOL
I switch off just to keep people confused and on their toes.....
When I get caught on it I just say I’m from Southern Michigan. Besides we have a city called Taylor but it’s nickname is Taylortucky. I can’t imagine why.....

OMG, I grew up in Middletown aka Middletucky!
Mary, you are absolutely right, you do not have to be from the south to be a redneck. Usually, north of the Mason-Dixon, the term is “white trash.”
But Lu....in the south...we have “white trash” and “rednecks“...LOL

Well, vikki,
White trash in the south from ONE southerns perspective is:
1. A person who lives either in a trailer or a house.
2, Has several vehicles that do not run. (Usually no tires, maybe bricks holdin up the car).
3. Trailer or house does not have a complete door. Maybe, a screen door with the screen torn in several places. Or if it’s a door it has been painted over many,many,many times.
4. MAIN INDGRIDENT—They have teeth missing and are VERY PROUD OF IT.
RED NECKS
1. Well they usually have a chew of some sort in their mouths and talk to you with it in, while holding their COKE bottle to spit in. (Yuck image)
2. Some not all wear pointy cowboy boots.
3. They ALL drive pick up trucks with gun racks.
4. Most are really nice people if you don’t have to look at them when their talking.
5. In the area I live you have to be from a certain town to be considered a redneck. But, that's not true of all southerners.
Of coursin, tha’s jest mah take on bein white trash and bein a redneck.

Rednecks...have money (some more than others...but some can have lots)...but just dress...well like a redneck. I don’t know how else to describe it. Not dirty or trashy...just country style....no frills.
White trash doesn’t have money AND they dress and act like a bunch people who have lost their minds...they have uncontrollable flesh ( I love that phrase) and they are about as educated as my crepe myrtle in my front yard.
Now can you tell the difference???
Of course...I do not fall into either one of those categories...and would be mortified (in my Scarlet O‘Hara voice) if anyone thought I would. Just a true Southern Belle here....
