It always helps me to do this kind of thing with others—so I’m glad to join you ladies! I need to lose my muffin top tummy and flabby/jiggly arms.

I’m not going for the summer bikini wear, but would like to feel good wearing sleeveless tops and dresses where my arms and tummy won’t look so flabby, or when I sit down you can’t see rolls around my middle!

        • Hi Vikki and Maryann ...doing ok right now, but want to build up momentum to really push myself harder. I’ve been doing my morning power walks but need another regular exercise routine to do 2 or 3 times a week. So I’m looking at various programs to get started with. I’ll keep you posted.  How about you?

        • Hi ladies,

How’s everyone doing on their target areas?  i’m exercising regularly now with power walks anyway, but haven’t found a good way to target my middle. Besides doing sit-ups any other suggestions that I can worked on from home (for my middle)?

        • Rose my PT has me doing all kinds of core exercises and most of the time I am using a balance ball and a bosu (half ball) for all my training.
My using one or both of those it forces you to balance (which requires stomach muscles)which works out your core.

I will stand on the half ball to do squats, arm curls and other arm work.
And the balance ball gets used for a ton of other stuff. Sit on the edge of the ball and do crunches, put your feet on the ball facing the floor and do push ups.

And of course cardio is needed too!

        • Rose, I started using the Jillian Michaels video, “30 Day Shred“.  It’s a great workout and you do a little bit of everything so you target your abs as well.  I also do crunches on the balance ball, like Vikki mentioned.  You can also work your legs and abs with some of the balance ball movements.  I’ve been using the video for only 3 days but it’s amazing how I can do more everyday and I can see a difference in my saggy stomach already!

        • I know I’ve posted this like before and someone else has too but I love 3w.ttapp dot com

Theresa Tapp developed this amazing exercise that combines PT type moves with pilates...but it is all done standing up.

It works your core like you wouldn’t believe.  You can find sample exercises on line too to give it a try to see if you like it.

It does an amazing job at toning all your muscles and cardio without running around or getting on your hands & knees! It is very gentle - even people who can’t stand up can do this!!!  It is great for people in wheelchairs!

        • I’ve tried the various suggestions, thanks ladies, it all helps!  Plus I started up pilates-reformer. I’ve only been twice so far and have 5 more sessions I paid for. I absolutely love! I hope feel so good afterwards and it really helps losen all the tension and muscle aches. This feels like a great “fit” for me happy

It’s always good to feel good after a workout. That usually means you will stick with it!

        • Well its been a few weeks since I started pilates and I have to say I absolutely love it!  This was definitely the ticket for me.  Between pilates and my power walks I’m feeling really good these days.  Now I just have to fine-tune my diet happy.

How’s everyone doing on their summer challenge?

        • Yeah Rose!

I am so happy that you are enjoying what you‘re doing. As for your diet why don’t you just start with one change (good or bad) and see where that takes you.

          Keep on going!!!!

        • Vikki, I lost 3lbs and overall I'm doing ok but could be alot better if I get more serious with my diet, which I’m working on a plan now for the next few months. Now that I'm back I am planning on mixing up my fitness program with both pilates and zumba, and continue with my walks.
