This morning I was just hanging out on Fab40 and decided to check out all the groups we have on this site.

      There are a lot!

Some were started a long time ago, some brand new, some with members who have gone away and some with members who are very active here.

But all of them were started with purpose and intent. I found it interesting looking around to see what I’ve missed from time to time when I’m unable to connect on the site.

If you have a chance, take a look through them, see if there’s anything that interests you, and maybe breathe some new life into a dormant group and get something started.

The other motivation I have for looking through the groups is, I may have a friend or two who is on the fence about joining a social networking site such as Fab40. If there was an active group that would fit their interests, I can made a stronger recommendation.

I’d be curious to know what you think.

        • I suggest some sort of consolidation or organization on groups.  I started some and wish I have the capabilities in deleting for some were outdated.   Some seem dup and some started with members that were long gone.

        • I agree, I got tired going through all the pages of groups & also found some that were similar but started by other people. Is there a way to group them or consolidate them?

        • The trick would be how to consolidate.  I have spent a lot of time updating my group and I’d be mighty P.O.d if someone else ‘took it over‘.

I think if someone started one and hasn’t been back in several months to keep it up to date it would be worth considering consolidation.

        • If the member who started a group has left or has been absent for a long time, maybe giving the opportunity to a more active member of the group to take it over?

        • I think that would be fair as long as that is in the ‘terms of use’ of the site.  If you know that up front then it is up to you to keep on keeping on if you want to have a group.

        • Great topic Cynthia,

We are looking into regrouping the groups. At the moment there are many that are duplicates, so keep your ideas coming and we will keep thinking of the way to do this correctly.

          Thanks.
          Y

        • I wonder if New Group creation privilege should grant to newbies?  The reasons are:

          1. They are new and not sure if there is an existing group

          2. They may create and then become inactive

          Just a thought.

        • Thank you! I enjoyed going through the groups this morning to see if I can breathe some life into some of the dormant ones. There were really good topics out there.

If someone new goes to find a group, they may miss one that is already available and start a new one with redundant topics. It would be nice to consolidate and cull the really old ones that may be out of date or of no interest any longer to the current membership.
