Any other knitters here make socks?  I just finished my first pair this afternoon and had so much fun making them.  Hubby thinks they are really cool and wants a pair his size!  So, I got started on some for  him, but me hands needed a break from knitting.

Sorry, no picture of them yet, but I’ll get one taken to post.

        • I only know how to knit scarf - why? It goes straight if I do that right.  Don’t ask me how to increase or decrease—I am afraid of it turns out to a funny shape.tongue out

        • I just learned to knit...only one lesson with a group and a few private ones.  I’m working on a scarf....using a continental stitch whatever the heck it is...I’m doing it....and I’m just going straight.  I’ve dropped a few stitches along the way...but it will be alright.  It’s my first scarf and I’ll learn.  My goal is to make scarves for the homeless for this coming fall and winter.

I wouldn’t even know where to begin to knit socks...

        • Here’s a photo finally.

Deb, don’t feel bad, the first time I tried socks, I had a severe brain cramp too.  Threw the whole mess away for a couple years and knitted a lot of other things.  Now it was a piece of cake!

        • Oh those are so cute!  I haven’t tried Panda cotton yet, but I’ve heard good things about it.

Is that a top down or a toe up pattern?  I’ve done both and decide I much prefer starting at the toe and going up.

        • Great socks ladies! I have started socks several times and never made it past the first one. I always end up getting my attention caught up in some new wonderful sweater and don’t get back to the socks. Seeing this reminded me it is a perfect project for the summer.

        • MJ, I have the same trouble!  I have a sweater scattered all over my living room, one sleeve here, one sleeve there, body elsewhere because I got invovled in making socks and prayer shawls, and dish clothes and........

        • My hubby quietly asks when I’m going to finally finish a project!  I can’t pass up yarn.  I especially love the color pink.  I’m looking for good sock yarn now.  I’ve done socks in the past and want to work on a pair again. Just finished a beautiful scarf for my mom.  Any suggestions on sock yarn?

        • Sorry, no yarn suggestions from me.  The ones I have in the pic are made with redheart worsted weight acrylic.  Let me tell you, that is far from the ideal yarn for socks, but it’s what I had.

Nice  yarn is rarely in my budget.  And there are SO many sock yarns out there to choose from!  Oh my.  Even if I do get the point where I can afford nice yarn, how does one ever choose?????

        • Oh, and I have one sleeve left to put in that sweater that was scattered all over and then I’ll post a pic.
