We hear alot about a woman’s worth.  We have this group, we blog about it, Alicia Keys sings about it.  People try to define it, determine it, steal it, destroy it and take it.

At the end of the day, what is a woman’s worth?  What is your worth?

Are you defined by your job, by your spouse, by your friends, by your weight, by your car, your house, your bank account......your mistakes?

My whole life someone else has defined who I am and what I was worth.  First it was my parents, then my friends, then a man, then my child, then my job...and on any given day in between, there have been other things or people chimin’ in!

Well, no more. From February 20, 2009 till I draw my last breath, my worth will be determined by how I feel and what I think about me, not how or what anyone else does.

When you read this, I urge you to do this exercise:

Make a list of all the things you are to others:  a friend, kind, loving, giving, compassionate, all of those things.

Now make a second list of all the things that you are to yourself....

I guarantee the second list will be much shorter.  Anything you are to someone else, YOU MUST BE TO YOURSELF.  We all talk about doing good deeds, I chief among them.  Do we ever talk about doing something good for ourselves?  NO.  That should be on the list dangit!  That should be something we feel good about.

Your worth should be something you define and you should be DAMN greedy when you do!

But again at the end of the day, no matter how you feel about yourself, your worth is always greater than sum total of a man’s anger.

I’m off the soap box nowhappy
