      I wanted to introduce myself.

I have an adopted son with Fragile X Syndrome. He’s 18 and graduated High School this June. He’s an incredible young man, always ready with a smile and a laugh, who has a great sense of humor.

After adopting him, I not only became an instant parent, but an instant advocate for him within the Special Education system.

Advocating for him within the system, making sure he was getting the appropriate education led me to a professional position with a Center for Independent Living, where I was a Special Education Advocate and an Independent Living Specialist.

Though Special Education varies in how it is delivered from state to state, I’m more than willing to provide any information or resources I have available to me, to other parents.

I hope to learn from others and share experiences.
