It never occurred to me that I could not always live my life exactly as I choose until recently!
I have a great Job (I’m self employeed!) An incredible personal relationship, friends and a caring family.....Somewhere along the line I decided it was time to start my own family.
Although I guess I knew it would be a challange of having a child over 40....I never expected the fertility Dr to make me feel ancient! I have always been young looking and youthful in my ways....
My guy and I followed the IVF protocol and had what seemed a successful cycle but the pregnancy did not “stick”
Since then, I am depressed and suddenly feel old. People are now calling me “MAM!”
I used to live my life with-out thinking of age and now I cant stop!!
Any over 40 wana be moms out there feeling the same??

        • I had my last baby after I turned 40. My oldest is grown, and the baby is still in diapers. :) Nutrition played a key role for me with my later in life pregnancies which were actually better than those when I was young. There is a picture of my whole crew at www.luvmy12kids.blogspot.com - back in the archives - June maybe. I think about being almost 60 before the baby is grown. But I am living life to the fullest now. I’ve never felt better, but again... I chalk it up to nutrition. Phytosterols help alot with hormone balancing.

        • DeeDee~Where do you get those “Phytosterols” from?! Over the counter?!

I don't know why fertility Dr's do that by making US feel old!! We're not old at 40, just our eggs are, but you would never know it to look at US!! Are you going to try another round of IVF?! Please keep me postedHave a great weekendJENNY :)

        • Jenny,
We do the entire Optimal Health System which can be found at www.mannapages.com/choosehealth We actually started using the products because of some health issues. One of the side effects was the most healthy enjoyable pregnancy I have ever had (when previous ones had been wrought with health problems.)
The product called Plus is the one with phytosterols, but I think the glyconutrients play a key role too because they provide communication for the cells (eggs/sperm included). There are some that joke and say Plus would be more aptly named Multiply. I am not saying that you would get pregnant if you use the Optimal Health System, but I know several people who have struggled to get pregnant, and then got pregnant within a few months of addressing their nutritional deficiencies. The worst thing that could happen is that you would just get healthier but not pregnant. That’s a pretty positive side effect, and it is much cheaper than infertility treatments! :)

        • Don't give up hoping.  Two years ago I was told that I would never get pregnant unless I used donor eggs, and yes I even tried the highest safely allowable injectable medications and consulted the experts.  This was particularly frustrating because I am an Ob/Gyn.  My journey is a long one, but now at 42, we have a beautiful 6 month old girl.  I wholeheartedly believe that balancing hormones, restoring nutrient balance, alkalinization, and safe detoxification are keys to achieving health and fertility and I am proof as well as many of my patients.  There are 'functional tests' you can do such as the 'Women's Health Panel' by Metametrix to identify your specific nutrigenomics and help to guide you in which nutrients your body may be needing.  There is more info on my website at [Link Removed] .  Health and happiness.

        • I think Metametrix is the lab. They are one of few labs taht do nutritional tests. Our doctors have used some of their tests to determine nutritional deficiencies. At one time we had a coop group that included doctors who would order tests from this lab. My computer died, I lost the links, and don’t know if it is still a functional group. Many doctors are contracted out to only use certain labs. Maybe Dr. Cabeca could connect you with someone near you would is associated with Metametrix?
Our bodies are pretty amazing, and given the proper tools can overcome most any challenge we throw at them. I really like Dr. Cabeca’s mind-body-spirit approach. I agree it all goes hand in hand. I perused her site today. My hat is off to her, and all the other doctors who are standing up and offering alternatives to what has become America’s status quo.

        • Hi Jenny, When it comes to infertility issues, restoring your bodies balance is key.  Testing for your ‘nutrigenomic’ blueprint helps as does looking at your hormones.  I can certainly consult with you and would recommend you getting a salivary test 8 panel on menstrual cycle day 21, and since it is difficult for us to do the full ‘Women’s Health Profile’ because it requires a blood draw, we can do a comprehensive Organix test which is a overnight urinary study.  Additionally, my basic nutrient regimen includes Omega’s, Multi vitamin and minerals (that is Albion micronutrients with chelated mineral) and mixed tocotrienol vitamin E, Carnitine, choline, and zinc as a basic regimen but only the purest GMP certified nutrients.  I have more info on the testing at www.cabecahealth.com/vidapura_store.html
Additionally, a very good book is “The Infertility Cure”
          Information is your power.

        • Hi....I had my tubes tied 11 years ago.  I was re-married and we decided to have more kids.  We did IVF in 2006 and it stuck on the first try.  We then decided to go for one more this past March.. No luck.  We knew this was our last chance as we could not afford to do another cycle.  We then looked into Tubal Reversal Surgery.  We are going to North Carolina on May 22nd to have the surgery.  We still have hope after losing all hope.  We just pray that I have enough tube lengths.  I also know age is a big factor since I just turned 40.  Hopefully we can get pregnant within a few months.  Don’t give up.. Age doesn’t always mean anything.  Pleanty of woman in their 40’s are having kids.  You just need to think positive and have faith.
