    • I dare ask? What is the general opinion of McCain’s speech last nite? I don’t think he’s a riveting speaker but he sure appealed to a lot of people last nite. I saw some teary eyes in the crowd.

I haven’t even begun to decide who to vote for. I’m trying to come up with a checklist of pros and cons because I am far from a political gal. In fact, it usually bores me to tears...but this is an important year to vote as I see it.

I’ve always steered clear of politics and will admit right here that I’ve never voted in my life. Please don’t throw things at me! I take a lot of flack for that from my family...I grew up with political debates at the kitchen table and wanted to stick my fingers in my ears so I didn’t have to listen. Several months ago I wrote about my decision to vote this year...and it’s not a serious posting, just my usual bent sense of humor: [Link Removed] However, in the past few months I’ve come to really enjoy reading, learning and researching what I can on the candidates. How can I not? There’s just so much swirling around out there, it’s hard not to get involved.

You won’t find me protesting or holding signs. I did that as a parents were staunch Democrats and we used to have to go around the neighborhood handing out bumper stickers and buttons. Imagine the fun.

I am, however, a single mother with 5 children and the future is important. When I read a bit of history about what women went through to get the right to vote...
[Link Removed] realize that I have 3 daughters who are blessed with this freedom that was so hard to earn.

So, I’m voting...but I don’t have a clue who I am voting for. I know McCain’s daughter, Meghan. We shared Thanksgiving dinner at a friend’s home last November. My children adored her and she is a fantastic young lady. What I loved about her was she didn’t talk politics with me...she didn’t campaign. We talked about real life. In the end, it won’t sway my vote one way or another. I’ll vote for the person I think will do the most for the next few years...and I’m just not sure who.

So...what’s the rating on McCain’s speech? He got an pretty fair grades from ABC commentators last nite. What about your thoughts?
