"A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous." Coco Chanel

All the European designer runways showed it – the return of the lady.

Dramatic coats, pretty pencil skirts, beautiful bow blouses and luscious leather gloves dominate the scene. Shapely legs with stiletto pumps, boots and wedges are a perfect match for ladylike fashions. Skirts fall just over the knees revealing the right amount of leg with gossamer see-through fabrics and alluring lace. Old Hollywood is back and vintage is vogue.

No naked thighs or bare bellies but a sexy, mysterious elegance that say fabulous, much like the legendary Coco Chanel. Classy and classic are essential elements in every lady’s wardrobe.

Leathers handbags are a normal size rather than ornaments of monstrous proportion. Soft, proportional leather handbags look sleek and are easier to carry.

Classic necklaces feature delicate and bold combinations of gold, pearl and silver. These timeless pieces truly reflect the return of the lady, much like long gloves.

The colors are chic and sophisticated tones of black, gray, blue and purple that are outstanding on everyone. No matter what your figure type or colorings, these shades make the most of what you’ve got.

Accessories are featured in bright colors and shiny patent leather to offset the neutral fashion tones. Gloves are more expressive in color and length for a dramatic flair to flatter every outfit. In a rainbow of colors to match or offset what you wear, gloves are must-have items to show off how classy you are.

Did I hear you don't have gloves? Mmm, it's not too late to [Link Removed]

        • As women, many of us are baby boomers and at this age can often find a little more discretionary cash. We have the power to vote with our pocket books and “encourage” the designers and clothing manufacturers to carry more stylish and classic things for us to wear!

        • It is nice idea style is back in. The idea of the Katherine Hepburn’s or the Jackie O’s coming back in style is wonderful. We live in a revovling world, where everything seems to come back. Syle is important. Carrying that style off with class, an element not always emphasized, but none the less important.

        • Oh Ladies,
Boys stopped in the streets today.

He started that OLD arguing in the car with the child in the back....Oh way did he do that? Because he thought as a lady with a dress on I wouldn’t escape him !

At the stop light, Daughter and I both carefully removed ourselves from his presence and stood on the curb.

          Now here’s the mental picture:

Normally I would be wearing jeans, and a polo and gym shoes or sandals...no earrings  and no purse, looking like ????

          BUT
Today I decided when he came to pick us up for a scheduled appointment to be dressed as a “LADY.”

Silk dress mid knee length, and crystal studded flat sandals, my hair brush back and dangling earrings and a nice purse.

          { I will post picture in my album}

After I left the truck and stood on the curb, no other time I ever left out of his presence and waited for a cab  or assistance did I ever get offered assistance faster today or needed to call a cab, but today ” LADIES RULE !” I got a cab in 3 minutes ! And my daughter and I went to a fancy Asian place to eat and they were having a party, of more than 100, we were invited because I was dressed for the occasion. We ate til we were so happy we forgot about HIM.

          So does the LADY return,

PLEASE HELP our 40 and below.

My daughter just got a kick out of how simply a dress brought chivalry and invitations for semi- formal occasions even though we were not invited. And URGENT assistance when in distress.

          ALL in the look and
she ask me: ” Mom why these girls that can be your daughters keep calling you ‘Sweetie‘? You older than they are and they think you a teenage mother. I guess me being twelve they think you had me in your teens? Huh ? ”

Dressing as a LADY today was for my self esteem to reclaim my feminine side and to show power of a dress to HIM and I guess it worked because we just got HOME and he abandon us on that corner at 11:00 am and now it is 7:32 pm.

WE HAD FUN OUT TODAY DRESSED UP for NO OCCASION and MADE the DAY a PARTY from A DRESS....Did I stay on the subject?

I agree bring back old skool values and dressing. Has anyone a Lauren Bacall photo, her dressed up?

The beaver cleaver Mom ? House cleaning attire ? Oh what about the I’m going shopping and you did not wear flip flops ! What do we wear ?

So tired of jeans and flip flops in CA. Is the a universal look, here...I’m old skool . . . make your face, do your hair, fix up and then open the door to leave.

I carry a mammoth purse but it’s my {book bag} substitute instead of a 10 year old looking book bag at COLLEGE, I’m forty + not four !

          Looks better.
I feel better having a polish look.
How do we convey this to other younger women ?

Men do really appreciate a finer dressed woman than casual dressed woman, TEST it watch him look around.

        • Ayanda and Elegance-

Bravo, Belissima!  Here in small town Texas, I still like to get dolled up, not “Bratz Dolled Up!”  I dont need attention, but it is nice to be appreciated when you’ve taken the time to put yourself together. I love keeping up with reading Elle and Vogue, and dog-ear the pages that demonstrate class.  (and laugh when I see a real“don’t“) Oh, ladies, help me!!!  I just want to pull some women aside.  Be proud, but dont flaunt all you have.  Carsoon Kressley has a great show on lifetime called “How to look good naked.” Check it out if you can.

        • I think my pharmacist flirted with me the other day. I walked in to fill a prescription at my little neighborhood pharmacy and he came from around the corner and said, “do I know you?” he was serious. I said, “you should, I come in here all the time.” He commented on my hair and that I looked spruced up. Then I realized he was paying me a compliment. I just smiled and said thank you, I guess I clean up pretty good.

        • Sometimes I’m such a nimrod! It didn’t even occur to me until I was nearly out the door. No one ever flirts with me. I’m not used to it.

        • Thank you, jesus’ lady, but I am not christian either.  Nor do I wear revealing clothing.  I am Muslim and dress rather modestly by most standards.  I have always known that it is not the women that dress so obviously that attract the eye-popping positive attention, but, more of the “I-can’t-believe-she’s-dressed-like-that” negative attention.  I am of the less-is- more school and if WOMEN are attracted to that, then, of course, a man would be, too.  (I repeat this mantra to my daughters constantly).  It’s all good.
