Yesterday, our President stated that the stimulus package is working. My question is, for who? I think it is working very well for the people that want to destroy our economy, our country, and our way of life. Let’s look at some facts from just yesterday alone:

      1. Our unemployment rate is rapidly growing. It can easily hit 15 percent. This also doesn’t count the *under*employment rate (people who take lower paying jobs just to survive) which is already over 20% in many areas. Perhaps our President doesn’t realize this because the only area where employment rates are on the rise is Washington, DC and it surrounding areas - as the govt continues to hire more people and take more control or our country.

      2. We are now 1 trillion dollars in debt and this number continues to grow.

      3. The same day we hit our new depths of debt, the President decides to announce that he will create new taxes for small businesses - the backbone of our economy!!

So I ask you, if the stimulus packing is working, what are its real goals???

I’m tired of people telling me to give the President a chance. He’s already done damage to this country that will take generations to repair. The only thing we can do is to contact our own representatives and hope that they do what is best for the country. Next, vote them all out of office and start fresh.

What is happening is exactly what I’ve said all along will happen.  Gosh....I don’t think it will be socialism..but more like communism.

Why do you want the governemnt to tell you what you can do...when to do it...how much to do it...and how much you will get paid?  WHY???  Good grief!!!!!!! I mean if you like that lifestyle...moved to Cuba!!!

I have witten to my legislaters/crooks...and I will continue to do so...and I promise I will do everything in my legal power to get rid of them all...including Obama!!

        • OH to answer your question what is the real goals of the stimulus package?  It’s true and real goal is to make the American people think the governement is doing something to help the economy when in fact it is slowly making the American people become dependent on the government..thus...being controlled by the government.  When the government starts to employ the majority...and they control every aspect of your livelihood ...and you want to quit..and do something else..what are you going to do when the government controls everything????  Ultimately...you will be paying your taxes to the government only to be paid by the government....do you not see the cycle????

        • Last week we had a rocky market due to the government and the Bank of England suddenly stopping quantitative easing  - which was effectively they printed money and pumped and dumped into the market to bolster the economy – today we have announced record unemployment not been this bad since 1971 ......
We still have very low artificially low interest rates so most mortgage paying householders are better off – but this can't last forever and when the interest rates start to hike and unemployment climbs further we will be in deep trouble.

Also last week the news was full of 17 dead soldiers in Afghanistan – the reason they died was due to lack of equipment – the government hasn't the money to spend on the military and 17 men die who were all under 30 years old fighting for something we in the UK don't understand.
Plus we are also in debt as we have bailed our banks out twice and I'm thinking we have no plan – our Prime Minster is more concerned with Susan Boyle having a nervous breakdown than the country breaking down – oh and crime is back at record levels – the biggest supermarket chain has just announced it's putting security tags on butter, cheese and meat !

The whole Iceland banking meltdown is a huge time bomb about to erupt in a months time - this week and we are only Wednesday two big retailers ahve hit the dust one is Borders Books UK ....

About forty six percent of the High Street borrowed from the Icelandic banks and a huge number of people and companies had their savings with those banks. The Iclandic nation own the banks and they want their money now and the UK banks can’t refinance what are in around 70% of cases viable businesses so people will be unemployed or taking huge paycuts to stay afloat and then struggle .....
If you think it’s grim here or in the US at least we are not Icelandic ....

          I like Annie’s idea...let’s start a new country.

Sign me up for that new country!  Honestly I think things are only going to get worse here.  I believe there was a movement afoot a couple years ago called “free thinkers” or something similar to that.  They were wanting to get enough members to basicly take over one state like Idaho or Wyoming or South Dakota and let the change begin from there.  Not a bad idea really.

        • And, I do know that this is no laughing matter. Our children and grandchildren will feel the impact of these bailouts. It’s very sad. My husband and I are of an age that we can squirell away money and live with less. In retirement we will be fine. We don’t need all the trappings that the younger generations have become accustomed to and will no doubt resist giving up if things continue to get worse.

And I also agree about the crime rate. People become desparate. On our news the other day there was a trial for a man and his son who took someone’s pet German Shepard, killed it and used it for food. Just horrible.

However working in management my entire adult life I know change does not come easy or overnight. And let’s face it the United States is a big business. And it can’t be changed in nano seconds. Am I happy about all the current events? NO I am not. But I wasn’t happy with Bush either and I still supported our President even tho I didn’t vote for him. I wasn’t willing to launch a lynching just because he was an ass. And YES HE WAS AN ASS!
I can’t presume to know everything there is to know about running a country and neither can anyone else until you have done it.

        • Vikki...I agree....I don’t know anything about running a country either...but...I’m just saying that the jokers in Washington...don’t either.  For them..it’s not what is best for this country..but what is best for THEM.  And I truly believe that. They want money..and power...and maybe a handful really have true patriotism..and want what is best...whether it’s the popular thing or not.

I was a Bush supporter but again..it was what I had to choose from but I do know he made lots of mistakes...but I did feel safe in my own country more so than I do now.  But I agree Bush made a lot of mistakes...and even with Clinton..he was a major ASS as well..and a disgrace to this country...but I did support him because he was my president..but ya’ll all know..I majorly dislike Obama...always have..always will...and I feel like out of all the Presidents that we’ve had in my life time...that I could really remember...Obama is doing the most damage in the shortest amount of time.  Would I like for him to succeed...you bet I would..because I want the best for this country.  I think we all want what is best...it’s just we want to go in different directions to get there..and we have major obstacles to over come to get there...obstacle one being our government.

And Vikki...I don’t think we have time to wait to rate our president...we are running out of time..period before the entire country goes under.  I think you can be rated at any time. JMO

But growing up in Detroit and being in a blue collar community of factory rats your choice was to belong to the union or have no job (that paid the way the former big 3 did).
And I come from a long line of factory rats. Great Grandparents, Grandparents, Parents.
However my mom being the open minded intellect that she was made sure we were all versed in politics, religions and cultures. If we answered just because to why we believed something that was unacceptable.

The head of the British Army is touring Afghanistan in an American helicopter, it emerged today, as he demanded more energy behind the push to get troops better equipment.

General Sir Richard Dannatt was transported by a US Black Hawk aircraft on a visit to British troops at Sangin, in the north of Helmand province.

Troops from The Black Watch, 3rd Battalion the Royal Regiment of Scotland, were also ferried in Black Hawk helicopters when they launched Operation Panther's Claw against the Taleban in Helmand last month.

Last week the Ministry of Defence was accused of having to borrow American helicopters because there were not enough British ones in Afghanistan.

Yes we are borrowing your equipment ...... today has been very robust in Parliment as we want out of Afghanistan we are stretched and we didn’t want this war - Blair the other clown dragged us in ......

I just want to remind everyone to make sure and keep an eye on your state and local issues as well as these important national and international ones. In the U.S. the states really have more power than the average person has been taught, so we need to keep at least a 2-pronged attack going against tyranny. • MC - In my emails I signoff with the same Jefferson quote.

I am guessing that most liberals would be shocked to find out that was said by Jefferson.  Most of them would not understand that Jefferson was opposed to big government (although the Louisiana Purchase might be a bit of a contraidiction) as were all the founders.  They wrote The Constitution to lay out what the government could not do to the people, not what the government was supposed to do for the people.

It is so telling that in 2001, Obama stated in an interview, that in his opinion, this is where the Founders really missed the boat!
