Should you love others more than yourself? Actually you can not love another person more than you love yourself. Love you have and show another person can only be equal to the love you have for yourself. If a person does not love themselves, they are unable to love another person.

We reflect upon those around us the feelings we have inside. If we have feelings of love and kindness toward ourselves then we will be able to love others and in return show that love in our words and actions with kindness. On the other hand, if we do not love ourselves we will reflect that unloving spirit in our interactions with others.

The second commandment states, “Love your neighbor as you love yourself“. It does not say, “Love your neighbor MORE than you love yourself“. If in fact we do not love ourselves the feelings we have for ourself will show on the outside. Love is felt and then shown. First we must feel love within and that love will surely show. Love yourself and then you will love others.
