Today I challenge myself to eat clean!!! That’s it - no garbage today. Here is the challenge:

None of the white poisons. Stay away from:

      • salt (ok, you can use very little)
      • sugar
      • anything made from white flour (bread, pasta)
      • white rice

Also stay away from anything with:

      • transfat
      • high fructose corn syrup
      • anything partially hydrogenated
(Read the ingredients list on the labels!!!)

Eat 5 veggies and 3 fruits

It’s easier than you think. The bad foods listed zap your energy. Do this for a few days and your energy will go through the roof!!! Anyone care to join me?

        • I’ll try.  I already try to stay away from the things mentioned, but I do have trouble getting in enough fruits and veggies.

        • I had a smoothie after my workout of strawberries, blueberries, honey and soy milk. Yumm!!

I’m about to eat an orange and some yogurt.

I’ll scramble an egg with some egg beaters right before I go to a meeting around noon.

        • Breakfast- egg beater omlette with veggies and a little cheese and a whole grain, high fiber English muffin

Lunch- BBQ wrap made with tempeh and pepper strips on a whole grain tortilla, served with carrot sticks. Warning noe on BBQ sauce- had sugar in it, so I used it sparingly. I really need to make my own BBQ sauce soon!

Dinner will be veggie lentil soup. Snacks, should I need them will be apples and nuts

        • Breakfast, yogurt with almonds and dried cranberries.  The dried cranberries are lightly sweetened with something, not sure what, but still, it’s fruit.

Lunch—a hard boiled egg.  I was at work, no time for anything else.

Mid afternoon snack—steamed carrots and an order of sweet potato fries.

Eating enough fruits and veggies is really hard, but at least this challenge is making me think about it and be more aware of how woefully short I fall most days.
