    • My mom just called me to update me on how everyone is doing since the car accident today.  My 17 year old niece, Nikki, has been discharged after much medical testing.  Thankfully, there are no major injuries, no broken bones, but she is very sore, black and blue with many bruised muscles.  Praise God that there were no major injuries, though!

Matthew, who was the teenager going steady with Carmen, had received nine stitches in his mouth where he was injured.  My mom had the opportunity to talk with Matthew, while both of them were at the hospital.  The sad news is that he is not living at home with his parents and is homeless.  He told my mom that his parents would not be coming to the hospital because they do not get along.  Matthew has been sleeping in Carmen’s car since he does not have a home.  Please pray for him and his situation as well as pray for a speedy recovery.

Carmen, who is Nikki’s girlfriend, has been admitted to the hospital after having surgery on her knee.  She was injured the worst of all the kids.  There is a large gash in her leg, torn muscles and a shattered knee.  She did have surgery and will be recovering in the hospital.  Please pray for her condition, healing and long-term care of her knee, which will most likely entail much physical therapy in the future.

In addition, my sister Doreen’s car is totaled and she is without transportation.  Her insurance did not include a rental car.  Please pray for her situation and that God would continue to bless her and make Himself present in her life as she is struggling with financial challenges along with a difficult separation from her husband.

Thank you, friends, for lifting all of this up in prayer.  Your friendship means so much to me. I am so very thankful for your support, friendship and prayers.

      God Bless,
      Dana

        • Dana, So glad to hear everyone is ok.  It is relative, but, considering what it could have been, you can all breath now.

The boy needs to call his parents.  This could be the catalyst for a reconsiliation.

        • Thanks for the update.  Will keep everyone in prayers.  As for Nikki, whiplash usually shows up the next day or so...it’s good to check out with a chiropractor and get an X-ray as a baseline as well as follow up.

        • I’m so glad to hear they are going to be o.k.  Matthews parents need to be notified, what if this was much more serious?  I will still be praying for all of them and their families.  I believe in the power of prayer.

        • As I read all of your comments, I thank each one of you from the bottom of my heart for all your thoughts, prayers, concerns and suggestions!  Yes, I agree, Matthew needs to contact his parents and notify them of his accident.  I do not know what the situation is between him and his parents, but I am praying that his parents can forgive him and whatever differences that they have had.  I pray that he has a place to stay that is warm and safe, especially now with the weather becoming very cold in Pittsburgh.  I continue to pray for his reconciliation with his parents.

Yes, I agree with chinadoll that the next day after an accident the whiplash could become a problem and it is a good idea to go to a chiropractor.  Nikki had x-rays and she does not have any broken bones, but I am sure tomorrow, she is going to be feeling all the aches and pains from this accident.  Luckily, she is young and usually younger individuals recover quicker!

Once again, thank you for all your loving thoughts and prayers!

          Hugs,
          Dana

        • I am so happy to hear there were no life threatning injuries.   I can see how this could be especially tragic for your sister.  Already dealing with her separation and now this. It certainly seems she has a full plate.  You and your family are in my prayers.  Keep us posted.

        • My prayers are also with all of those involved. And definitely have her follow up on her whiplash. I was in a car accident & the xray taken at the ER was clear of any breaks but found out years later when my neck starting acting up that I have 3 bulging disks. I wish I would have followed up with my doctor back then.
