I went shopping for a dress to wear to a wedding and it seems everything suitable for my age is black.  Years ago, black was a no-no at weddings...do you think it still is?

        • I think it depends on the people. Are they old fashioned? Are they fashionistas? If they are old fashioned, then I would not choose black, but if it is of the younger generation then I would definitely do the black with no worries.

        • heartI have been to weddings where the bridesmaids wore black-very sharp looking. I think black is OK, though last wedding I went to was my daughters and I had to wear the “mother of the bride” dress.

        • It also depends on your personal style.

I rarely wear anything other than black, scarlet, or dark green - my friends/family would never expect me to wear something different for a wedding! Having said that, it’s possible that my lot are a bit less trad than some folks‘!

If in doubt, ask the bride and groom for their opinion! estatic

        • I can’t see how many feel black is not an acceptable color for a wedding. Black is very classy as well as a classic color for any attire if you accessorize it the right way it can be more elegant than a wedding dress lol.

        • Black is stunning and like Neicy mentioned jazz it up with some accessories..perhaps a single strand pearl necklace or pearl choker and pearl earrings would be classic.

        • I have done many wedding over the years. Black has become more popular, especially for the wedding party. I think that anything goes as far as guests attire, of course except white! lol For a evening wedding especially it is considered more formal. Just have fun with it, be stylish & have a fabulous time!!!

        • I would have no problem wearing a black dress to a wedding.  At least it’s a color you can wear over and over.

        • Personally, I’m one of those people who think black is for funerals and funerals only.  I wouldn’t wear black to a wedding.  That’s just me.  I rarely wear black at all.  I think it’s way overdone.  It’s way more fun to wear a little red dress than a little black dress.

        • My cousin’s wedding was last year and her Bridesmaids wore black. I seen other guest also wearing black. Black is a dressy color. Like Neicy said, you can dress it up with color or other accessories. If I seen a really cute black outfit for a wedding, I would wear it. I don’t really see anything wrong with it unless the bride was actually wearing a black dress then I wouldn’t wear black cause then people would just be blending in with the bride.worried
