Well, I did it. I rejoined WW...not officially but I pulled out my books and guides and I’ve begun again.

A strange time to do so, I admit, with Thanksgiving in 2 days and Christmas around the corner. But I would like to stay more focused this year, make better choices and not slide deeper into the need-to-loose-abyss.

Anyone want to join these last weeks of 2008 with me on making healthy choices while still allowing room for holiday cheer?

        • Liz, this is a perfect time to watch the calories and do what we can to avoid gaining weight. Why wait until January 1? I like the idea. In fact, if you happen to see any posts by one of our members, Daphne, she’s on WW and posting her points and she’s already dropped 8 pounds! What an inspiration.

          You go! Good for you!

        • I think it is a great idea to be AWARE around food—especially around the holidays—also called the  National Eating Season . I know that I have tending to overeat during this time.

I would be willing to give tips on:
.....how to make it so you don’t overeat at a holiday event
.....how to make peace with forbidden foods
.....how to deal with emotions around the holidays
          .....how to deal with cravings

You might want to look at a blog that I published here called
Excuses for keeping weight on--and what you can do about it

What I love about how I have lost weight using EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) is that it is permanent because I have gotten to the core issue of why I used to overeat. I don’t know if you have heard the saying, “It is not what you eat, but what is eating at you.”

I have lost 30 pounds using EFT, and I am not gaining it back!!! I have given away my “tent dresses” that I used to keep in my closet—just in case—my mother thinks I am making a mistake by getting rid of them, but that is how confident I am with my way of being.

          Gratefully yours,

          JoAnn

        • JoAnn,
That is great you are using EFT. I think changing our mental focus is a primary reason why people fail at keeping weight off. We are going to be talking about that tomorrow night on the Lean for Life encouragement call. Unless we re-train our brain to think the right way, we'll always fail, because we'll return to the same old habits that got us to the point we need to lose in the first place. Don't let your mom get in your head. You've got the right attitude. There is NO turning back! I have a video called Be Thin in Body Mind, and Spirit that focuses on helping you change your mindset and posture even before you change your figure.

I love that saying! It is so true. EFT is a great way to reset out thought patterns!

        • Great idea to be forward thinking and keep the weight off before and during the holidays. It would be even better if the choices you make during the holidays extend throughout the entire year. It is a change in mindset and is takes dedication. I applaud you!!

        • Dee Dee,

I totally agree. Actually it can pretty easy to lose weight—it is the keeping it off that is the problem for most people. Until people get to the mental/emotional cause, they keep gaining it back.

        • HELP!! I’m one of those BBW who truly desire to lose the extra person!! I have tried everything that I can fit into my busy lifestyle. I’ve spent thousands of dollars just to have it come back with extra poundage. Any ideas? I like the idea of this vehicle being used as a support system. I’m approaching my 52nd birthday. I made two goals to reach before turning 55. One goal was to lose the extra weight. The other goal is to complete my doctorate. The second goal is well under way. The first goal...well...Any suggestions out there? (Oh...I try to exercise 2-3 times a week...but, the extra weight just seems to stick.)

        • hi,

i think that you haven’t got to the core issues that are underneath your overeating...

most dieters would agree that losing the weight isn’t the hardest part—it is the keeping it off that is is difficult—unless you get to why you are overeating. women overeat for many reasons...

you might want to get together with someone who is experienced in helping women deal with their issues having to do with weight, body and emotions—and how to release the patterns that have contributed to overeating. also, learn how to deal with the emotions that are there instead of eating.

i used to teach p.e., and carried extra weight—even though i was working out a lot. however, i didn’t know how to get to the core issues that were causing me to stuff myself.

i didn’t know about the “f” word—feelings  . many women stuff their feelings with food. it seems easier than dealing with the feelings.

the tool that i recommend is called  emotional freedom techniques  and one of my specialties is weight loss. i am a co-moderator on the eft weight control forum

besides teaching i love my body workshops  in my area, i also do phone consultations. i would be willing to chat with you about your situation for free if you wish. my phone number is 707-464-2501.

          so, there is a way.

          joann

        • Hello all,

Helping others to lose weight is one of my products. I use the Dr. Simeon Protocol using HCG. I hate to say something is too good to be true, but this truly is Legit. Using HCG is a medical procedure that I am using to not only help patients lose weight, but to resculpt the body. Once one loses the weight, all other programs are a cinch to keep one there. It is no majic bullet or pill. It is hard work and mental committment. I have helped over 100 people lose extraordinary amounts of weight. I have a number of clients waiting until after the 1st of the year because the protocol is exact. Anyone interested in finding out more, shoot me an email!

          Cheers for the holidays!
