There is a commercial where a heavier guy gets on a scale at the gym and weighs himself. He then does one lap around the gym and gets back on the scale. He hits side of the scale (trying to fix it) when his weight hasn’t dropped after one lap. I think I’m kind of like that - always looking for instant gratification.

I admit it - I weigh myself daily. I know - I know, it’s not something I should do but it really works for me. For some people it is demotivating, for me, it is motivating.

I know that some people believe that the scale isn’t important. For me, it is just a way of seeing that I am progressing in my efforts. I don’t take the exact number seriously. I know that there are days when I retain water, etc. I realize this. But for me, I like to follow trends. Is the trend going up or is it going down.

This trend watching is for my instant gratification. And my long term goals are there to make me more patient. I guess I try to satisfy both

I am so glad that my fab40 friends are with me through this journey! ...especially during those times I need to be more patient.

        • Oh I want instant gratification too but I also know how discouraged I would get if I weighed daily. Since I flucuate (sp?) so much in water retention I just stick to once a week weigh ins and how my clothes fit.
The clothes thing is gratification for me (when they are looser that is!)

        • Annie my mom weighs herself daily. It works for her too. She has a policy that if her weight is up by a little for a few days in a row, she cuts back on her food for a few days and it comes off. She does not exercise no matter how much we try to convince her to. She’s a little lady, not even 5 ft. tall. At 81, she looks really good so the weighing daily works well for her.

        • Clothes option for me too. When you have alot to loose the daily scale is depressing, I weigh in once a month. If I try something on and is is looser I smile and that makes my day.
