I started this group about a week ago right after joining this site. I spend a bit of time on an infertility website....but very few  on that site are in my age group....and I figured on this site.....everyone HAS TO BE close to my age. So thank you all for joining. Please feel free to comment or add a topic any time!

        • Hi all, I’m Raquel!  At 41 hubbby and I are trying to conceive Baby #3.  We have a 6 year old and a 4 year old and have been trying to get pregnant for six months.  Since then, I’ve had a missed miscarriage ending with a D&C at six weeks, and then a chemical pregnancy.

We cannot afford nor prefer to do anything too invasive like egg donation or IVF.  I am trying acupuncture and moxibustion, though.  We will try to conceive naturally until my 42nd birthday this February.

BUT - we are not against adoption, either.  My only hesitation is the cost.  Is there ANY way I can do it economically?  And how much would that feasibly be?

Thanks, good luck to all of us!

        • Hi Ladies, I have two boys, Nicholas is 6yrs old, conceived through IVF and Matthew 3 1/2 yrs. is adopted domestically.  I went through 5 IVF, the first I had severe ovarian hyperstimuation, miscarried on the 3rd, had Nicholas on the 4th and an ectopic on the 5th.  Decided to adopt after that.  Needless to say, please don’t give up. There are alot of ways you can also adopt, they don’t all have to be expensive. I’ve been through alot so if anyone needs to chat please feel free.

        • Hey Maair21, my husband and I can’t have children naturally(due to me having a hysterectomy because of fibroid tumors)and we are looking into the adoption thing. It is a very expensive process and we really don’t have a lot of money. Is there any information that you can give me on domestic and international adoption?

        • Hi guys...my email address is [Link Removed] if you want to chat about adoption.  It is costly but we did get money back when we filed our income taxes.  You might want to check with an accountant.  There are also different ways you can adopt.  We did a private adoption using an adoption attorney. We had to pay for the attorney, the ads and phone bill. The birthmom didn’t want any money from us but we were willing to pay for any baby medical expenses. The trip to Texas was expensive since we had to stay for 2 1/2 weeks which is unusual. We had to place ads in newspapers and had a 1-800# hooked up in our home so the birthmoms called me directly. You can also go through an agency and there are different types of agencies.  A friend of mine, who does not have alot of money, adopted a baby using Catholic Charities, it took longer but was not as expensive.  I think the cost was based on their income level. I can find out from her exactly how the cost was determined.  I know that we had to take out an equity loan on our house to pay for our adoption.  I had researched international and felt that it was very expensive since we wanted a younger child.  It can be in upwards of $25-30K.
As for fertility treatments, Raquel2526, I can definately relate to you not wanting to proceed with more. It gets to be mentally and physically draining.  I felt that I had a better chance of getting a baby through adoption that trying fertility treatments again at 42 yrs. old. Please let me know if you guys have any other questions that I can help you with!!

        • I know nothing about this or in position to comment.  However, I was a foster parent once and had worked with local Children Services.  They were once asking if I would adopt the foster children.  They have kids from baby, toddler on.  I wonder if that will be another resource.  Those kids really need a good loving home.

From fostering to adoption will also give you a chance to get acquaintance with the child.  Just a thought.  Let me know if you know of anything.
