My name is Marie, but I go by Bernadette (my middle name) at Fab 40. I have a life-long interest in growing and using herbs. I do my best to research correct information about them and their proper use.

        • Hi Marie - Bernadette,

I grow and use medicinal herbs myself. I took a course in theraputic herb use that was cramming 3 years of courses into 1 year that dominated my life at that time and really worth it to me.

        • I’m a Breast Cancer survivor 4 years, Thank God. I card for my Mother until she went home to the Lord on May 28, 2009. My Mother had diabetes, congestive heart failure, arthritus, incontinence of the bowels and vascular dementia. Many times I was told she would not be hetre long. I refused to accept it to the point that they said I should talk to a Doctor myself because I was in denial and they were worried about me. God’s will, my Mothers will, fruits, vegetables, herbs, supplements and good nutrition helped to keep her here and I am grateful, I am still here. I am most grateful to participate in such a viable group, thank you. heart

        • Hello Everyone!  I grow lots of herbs, but more for landscape than medicinal use.  I am interested in learning more about herbs for cooking, crafting and medicinal purposes.  Looking forward to it!

        • So... are we ready to talk about herbs now? My old wolf dog (70% wolf) had a head injury that has caused him to have seizures. I keep a combination of herbs that are nervines and
seditives in the medicinal herbs pantry for him. Anyone else use medicinal herbs for their animals?

I’m also interested in learning more on growing culinary herbs. I hang my head when it comes to growing them.

        • Hello! I have attempted a small herb container garden this year. I planted basil, cilantro and oregano. It grew and grew until it has grown no more.

I planted this mainly because I use them a lot for salsa and pasta sauce or pizza sauce.

        • My grandmother was a Shaman/Medicine Woman and she used lots of medicinal herbs. I unfortuately do not remember much from her but I would love to learn. I am not much for going to doctors and using western medicine, I have used herbs and supplements for years but it has been pretty much self taught and experimental.

        • Hello Nuncita, nice to meet you!

Maybe this sideline group of Fab40 will help you remember what your grandmother shared with you? And what a treasure to grow up with! I have an over crowded medicinal herbs pantry, actually built a book case for my herb books but still want a doctor’s diagnosis for some of the time. I have a few medical books that I use for reference because I don’t have medical training.  One book I would like to buy is a current NDR (Nursing Drug Reference) because it lists the properties of drugs to compare to herb properties to go natural.
