I thought the following article (link below) was a well-written, brief overview of basic Wiccan beliefs. The article is by Angie Briscoe.

        • Bernadette,
Thank you so much for sharing this info. I want to read more about it, since in a way, I know a little bit of santeria. I think Wiccans and santeros have some things in common.

        • Here is a link to a very good online school. They offer some classes for free, others are paid, however, once you become a paid member (fee is very reasonable too) you gain access to ALL classes!

        • I believe that you are right to believe as you do- it is not my right nor anyone elses to judge, that is Gods job, and His alone...As for the “black and White” thing you speak of, God gave us free choice- our only job is to learn while we‘re here. Just as in any and all religons, we are free to decide what to believe and what to let alone.
I was born and raised in the Catholic church(where btw, in 2nd grade, all my knuckles were broken by a nun), however, being taught that I MUST pray to God in his house (sorry, he’s everywhere I go, and he hears me), Fear the wrath of him (if I’m afraid of something, I tend to avoid it- don’t think that’s what he had in mind), and to believe in some guy dressed in red with a long, pointy tail and horns walking around with a pitchfork was and still is absolutely insane to me. As a Wiccan, I now respect everything and everyone as having a reason and a purpose for being here. I judge no one. He and I talk on a constant basis now, along with Angels, and yes, various others, but most Wiccans don’t even believe in satan, so how can we worship him? I believe there are people who make the choice to do evil, but even then since God is all-knowing and ever loving, even they get the chance to get it right.
So, if you see Wiccan as the “Darkside” again your choice, but if you truly look, you will find that we honor everything, plants, animals, people, the seasons, the day and night- everything! How many others will say thank you to the entire universe?
          Blessings to you!

          LadyP

        • Wow, this blog was for those interested in looking at the wiccan way, not a blog for someone to come and judge and push thier beliefs.

I was always taught that Christians do not judge...I guess some did not read the book.

This group is called no BS Pagan  for a reason. It is where we can come and discuss things and religions we may like.

We do not judge anyone for being a Christian, but it seems we get judged by those who say they are Christian.

I’m sorry if this sounds harsh, but I do not go in the Christian blogs and try and push my beliefs there.

Maybe one day we may the find the bible is fiction....hmmm thought to ponder!

        • My sister in law was a Wiccan, but then she came to Christ and was set free and never went back to messing with that stuff.

set free from what?? messing with what stuff?? Not a judgement or put down. hmmmmmmmm

I have a penpal in prison who used to be heavily involved in the occult, and it destroyed his life, and his daughter.

Wicca is not an occult, anymore than Christianity is. Very judgemental.

This kind of attitude is what turns people off of Christianity.

        • I will pray for you that God will bless you and lead you into truth, because only he knows what that really is.

Who’s truth?? God’s truth? You‘re right only he knows what that is. Wicca may be the truth.

Again, this blog for those of us wanting to learn about different things, as is this group. Did you join just to ‘preach’ your beliefs? And, yes you are.

And if a person doesn't believe he exists, well, that is the ultimate triumph, gives him just what he wants.

wow, if that is not a‘holier than thou’ statement I do not know what is.

        • Wow! I’m getting into a heated discussion here it seems.  I’m a newbie, too, but I do have my opinions.  I am a Christian, but I would never “push” that on anyone anymore than I would want anyone pushing there beliefs on me. I believe that any religion or relationship with a higher power is a personal one and one that must be walked alone.  Yes, you may share if you like, but don’t push.  We are all entitled to our own private relationships, human and spiritual.  I know nothing about Wicca, only because I have never sought info before, not because I feel people who believe are wrong.  Being a Christian, I KNOW that it is not my place to judge ANYONE for their beliefs or lifestyle.  I say do what you believe as long as you do not feel condemned for doing it; then you know it’s wrong.

        • I consider myself a Christian, however I must be a modified one since I have beleifs that are based in nature that coincide with native american customs and belief in nature. I simply cannot see where there isn’t room for both, and room for science and nature in Christianity. I am sure I am judged by this, but I really don’t see the problem. Nature was invented by God, and healing was also invented by God.  A small Bit  of my family heritage on dad’s side was a witch prosecuted in Salem, Mary Eastey was her name—a midwife, and I suppose at that time women and healing were considered pary of witchcraft. Now I do believe in healing, as I am a nurse and consider holistic measures in many ways sound and logical.
Why isn’t there room for both science and Christianity?

        • The way I see it is you cannot deny science, and you cannot deny nature. It is there and can be seen. You cannot deny the cycles of life and nature. Even if they were created by God, they cannot be denied.
And we all know sunsets don’t create themselves...
          Just food for thought.
