My current herb is lavender. I started growing it because it is somewhat drought resistant and the deer decline to eat it.
I love its’ silvery foliage, the scent of the leaves and spikes and the ease of raising it. I have quite a few bushes, Munstead,Hidcote,Grosso and some Spanish. As well as a couple cultivars I cannot identify, they were just shared by a friend.
I give buds to a neice and a friend who handmake goats’ milk soap. I also cut the spikes and include them in boquets of roses and cosmos. Although I don’t craft with it much, I have made sachets and given them as gifts. I also wrap spikes in tissue paper and put them in boxes of stored items. The strong fragrance deters insects.
This is not a great photo, but it shows a row of lavender bushes in the background. These particular bushes were all started from cuttings from a friend. I don’t have a clue what the name is.
OK, the photo is being stubborn or I am being idiotic. Not sure which.

I love lavender! It may be my favorite as well. I lived in Sequim Washington for 2 years. That is the lavender growing capitol of the U.S. and they host a very big lavender festival every summer. Here’s a link [Link Removed]
Your picture looks pretty!
I have a new favorite, lemon balm. It smells so great and rubbed on the skin, it keeps the mosquitos away. I’m told it can be made into a nice tea as well, but I didn’t really care for the taste of the tea I made from dried leaves.
If anyone else has used this herb for cooking, or anything else, I’d love to hear about it.

YUMMMM Tuliplady! Where do you get lemon balm?
I want to try it like you do.
I love any kind of herb, right now I am planting mints...
I also have Lavender, so far so good.....
Cocofix, I started the lemon balm from seed. Most mail order seed catalogs have it.

Bernadette, I have lemon balm from my grandmas’ garden. God rest her soul, she has been gon since 1992, but that lemon balm grows on. The smell of it reminds me of her. And tuliplady, I didn’t like the taste of the tea, either!
