My husband—bless his heart—-decided he would buy me some lingerie for Christmas.  He picked out some bra/panty sets.  I loved the colors and style.  Although the panties fit perfectly, the bras did not.  They were TOO SMALL.  I was surprised because that’s the size of the last bra I purchased (about a year ago).

I went back to the store to do an exchange.  That’s when the sales clerk told me I should be fitted and not just “assume” a particular size.  I really didn’t want to do through the hassle of a fitting but I did and I was surprised again.  I went from a 34a/b to a 36b.  Why?  It had something to do with my shoulders.  All of the working out I’ve been doing has broadened them.

The sales clerk also told me I should be fitted every year.

Has anyone else noticed an increase in their bra size since turning 40?

        • I have not noticed a change in my bra size, but my top size has gone from an 18/20 to a 14/16 but my bras still fit well.

I believe the upper workout I have done has toned my back and shoulders.

        • 42E/DDD. I used to be a 48G....so I’m happy I’m getting smaller.  I have noticed that the biggest difference I see in my 3 older sisters (all over 50) is that they get SMALLER as they get older.  I can only hope.

        • hmmm, for me I think it mostly has to do with nursing 12 babies over the span of 20 years, but my bra size is down to a 34A from a 36C (when nursing or pregnant.) I was not big before babies, but now I am concave. I get the shaper bras, else I’d have a pancake chest. LOL Whenever I lose weight, that is the first place I lose. When I measured around my ribcage below my bra line it was 31. I’ll never be Barbie, but I am glad that I got the rest of my figure back. I need to measure again next week. I promised myself a box of Cynthia’s chocolates when my waist hits 28 again. I was only an inch off last time I checked.
Last time my hubby did that he gave me a gift certificate to Victoria Secret. It was 6 months before I cashed it in because I was very post partum fat at the time.

        • If you were never fitted before, you may have been wearing the wrong size all along. Kids also change it and yes, they are falling tongue out

Just go and get an uplift! And measure again estatic

        • cd, be careful what you wish for, as some of the other ladies here can attest to i’m sure!  i always wanted “big ‘uns” ‘cause as a teenager, that’s what my boyfriends said they liked.  30 years later with sinkholes in my shoulders from carrying these double d’s around and various therapies for my back and shoulders, even though i know GOD gave them to me for a reason, i still ask “what reason?”  i need help carrying them.  and though the Bible says to “cast your burdens at His feet,” i don’t think that’s what He meant!estatic
