Please tell us where you live in Virginia.  We would like to get a feel for where people are so we can start local Fab40 group meet-ups. If you are interested in becoming a group leader for your area, please contact Shepherdess/Amy Harden privately here at the site.  Just state your location at this point...if your don’t want to name your town just tell us your area...like Tidewater/Hampton Roads, Colonial Williamsburg area, Eastern Shore, Shennendoah area, Northern Va/DC Area, Richmond area...etc.

        • I know this doesn’t count...but my heart still lives in VA although I am a transplant to FL.  Grew up in Shenandoah Valley and lived in NoVA after I got married in 1981.  Moved to FL in 1995 due to my husband’s job relocation.  Still love VA and visit often!!!!

        • I am from the Tidewater/Hampton Roads area...primarily Chesapeake for the past 15 years.  I have lived in Virginia Beach for 2 years and Springfield,VA for two years....but believe it or not...SHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! Don’t tell anyone..but I’m a Yankee!  I was born and raised in Up-State New York...I think I was a Southern Belle in a previous life though...I love the elegance and gentle nature of the people who live here.  I fell in love with  Virginia when I was eight years old and my family came to Colonial Williamsburg and then travelled over to the Shenendoah Mountains.  On our way back up North from our trip, I announced to my whole family that one day I would live in Virginia!  The United States Navy was happy to fulfill that dream when they transferred me here when I was serving and then again when my husband got stationed here.

Make sure you place your blog information on the registry here at this thread, so your info doesn’t get lost among the other location submissions...okay?!  I come up to Richmond every other month for my Virginia National Speakers Association Meeting...maybe we can get together some time.

          Dennie:
You should move back or come and visit, so we can meet you.  You can stay with me!!!

          sudie:

Where is Martinsville located in VA...forgive me but I don’t know all areas in the state and there are so many...if I can get an idea where you are located we can get an idea where we can direct you for group meetings, if you are interested.  Okay?

        • Hey,
Martinsville is about an hour south of Roanoke and an hour north of Greensboro, NC. Martinsville is the home of the best short track in NASCAR racing!!! It is located in the foothills of the BlueRidge Parkway in South West Va. Would love to hear from anybody down this way!!

        • Great idea Amy-
I’m in No VA (Leesburg) now but I grew up in Va Beach. I love VA it is such a beautiful state.
You‘re too funny. My husband is a Yankee also. He had a very hard time coming to terms with the fact that he was living below the Mason-Dixon line when we moved here. It’s taken him 14 years but I think he’s adjusted to it. Let me know what I can do to help.

        • I was born and raised in Virginia Beach, educated in Richmond (VCU) and now live on the Northern Neck of Virginia in a place on the Chesapeake Bay called Reedville.  We just moved to Reedville this year, courtesy of my husband’s firm.  The pace is slower, the views are great but I do miss the shopping!!

        • I’m from Norfolk, Virginia and just returned there after being away for many years. I‘e also lived at the Oceanfront in Virginia Beach. Have lived in Washington, DC also so I still have friends there and in Northern Virginia.

I travel to D.C. to do workshops two or three times per month, so I would be interested in knowing about any meetings there.

        • When I came to the US (2000) I lived in Harrisonburg VA...I loved it...and thought VA had to be the most beautiful state (even though I had nothing to compare it to).

I still have friends there and go back to visit whenever I can.  I now live MD but would move back to VA in a heartbeat.

        • Hi Ladies. I am currently living in Amherst, Virginia. Do you remember the television show The Waltons (lol!)? This is the area Earl Hamner (John Boy) wrote about. It is in the Blue Ridge Mountains between Charlottesville, Virginia, and Lynchburg, Virginia. I was born and raised in Alexandria, Virginia, and my family, friends and heart is still there. I go home often so I would also be interested in hearing about any meet ups.
