      Hey Everyone,

I don’t know if you struggle with what to wear and when to wear it, but I do!

With the type of work I am in, I have found that I could wear jeans and a tee shirt every single day of the week; and I get tired of it.  I just turned 40 and sometimes I would like to dress up a bit, but can never find anything I like at the malls.

Do any of you shop for clothes online?  what are your favorite stores.  I have done a little at Chadwicks and Appleseeds but that is about it.  Please let me know where you shop!!

        • I shop online @ Zappos & Endless for shoes.  I am always looking for something different, which to me means, NO MALLS!  So I pick up different pieces over the net, like the blazers @ Spiegel fit me perfectly as do the ones @ Dillards (if I happen to NEED one yesterday!).  My style is pretty basic, as I live in pants.  But, for the basics like t-shirts, & turtlenecks(my fave), I could easily find  something at GAP, Target, or Ann Taylor.  Every year I say I’m going to buy a cashmere turtleneck.  I had one that quickly got ruined.  Suggestions?

          J.Crew
          Banana Republic
          The Gap
          Old Navy
          eBay
          New York & Co.

Sometimes what I will do is go into a store and try something on to find my size and then look for it cheaper on Ebay. You are lucky if you can wear jeans to work. I work in a corporate-type environment and need to dress up every day at least Monday to Thursday. When I find basics that fit really well, like layering tees, I usually stock up and buy in multiple colors.

If you get tired of jeans and a tee, try wearing a blazer over that jeans and a tee or a cardigan & shell set over your jeans. I love the look of tunic tops with jeans & its forgiving to my bumps and curves. Also, you could try wearing clogs or ankle boots in the cooler weather as well.

At the mall, I find that NY & Co. (if there is one near you) and Old Navy have stepped up their looks somewhat and their prices are budget friendly. Hope that helps!

        • I absolutely love Chico’s jeans.  They fit great and lots of different washes/fits for just about every figure.  I am a passport member so I receive coupons all the time and 5% off every purchase so I stock up when I get my coupons.  You might like some of the tees too, they tend to be a little dressier and “grown up” but not old lady looking.  Also, I love Ann Taylor and Talbots online.  Sign up on their mailing lists and they will email you special sales and free shipping codes.

        • Lori,

There are so many ways to dress up or down a pair of jeans.  Here are just a few ideas:

          1.  White tailored shirt worn in and accessorize with a variety of jewelry (my favorite is turquoise), belts, scarves worn at the neck or around the waist.
          2. White shirt with a variety of jackets. These can be solid or print. (Coldwater Creek has good sales on jackets)
          3. Use the white shirt as a jacket over a variety of shells. You can leave it open or bind at waist with a belt and show pretty shell underneath.
          4. Tee’s with a variety of jackets or shirts and pretty jewelry.
          5.  Add splashy, cute shoes to change an outfit and add just a touch of repeat color at the neck or waist.

Maybe this will get your creative juices flowing and show how to have fun with a simple inexpensive wardrobe.

          Libby
