        • I was going to say Dubai - the concrete jungle ....

A strange place to visit - sun - man made sand and concrete but has amazing shopping as it’s all tax free and you can get the cheapest diamonds in the world there - its now officially the diamond centre of the world.

        • Victori - think the oil they get out of the ground and charge us the earth .....

It’s been a very thriving place but all on borrowed money and now it’s crashing down the recession is biting - I have several friends who live an amazing ex pat lifestyle but are heavily in debt as your life is tied to your job - so if you lose your job then it’s hard to find re- employment plus if you rent property its through your job and they pay a years rent up front thats the normal - if you default on debt you go straight to prison even a missed credit card payment so at the airport you see loads of luxury cars abandoned as folk just fly home.

I couldn’t live there but I go 3 times a year on business and I’ve seen the Palm Islands both on the ground and by helicopter

That is amazing but the houses are not selling and those that have sold have lost money .....its also very strict dress code & if you want to drink etc; as a woman you have to go to certain expat bars - not hotel bars as they assume your a prostitue and your arrested.
A very close friend is the editor of the biggest fashion magazine in the AE [Link Removed]

You should go as it’s an amazing & have a cocktail at the Burj Al Arab hotel ....... I stay there it’s amazing
