It’s a big possibility. According to the Wall Street Journal, “Senate Democrats plan to begin work on a $1.1 trillion spending bill Thursday evening to keep the federal government running through the remaining 9 1/2 months of the fiscal year, although it remains unclear how they will complete the legislation before Saturday’s midnight deadline.”

Can us say irresponsible? Why have there been so many days off for this congress if they had work to complete?

And what does this mean? From what I understand (and please, correct me if I have this wrong), the President will then decide which agencies will cease to exist (if only temporarily) until funding has been resolved. I wonder if they will lose their pay during Christmas as the new bill which includes extending unemployment pay because it is Christmas time is still on the table!

This is getting so confusing! I think I need an advil.

        • YOu know, every couple of years we go thru the same old story. News commentators get all in an uproar because the govt might have to shut down (and goodness, then what would they report on???) but has it ever really actually happened?  I honestly can’t remember if it has or not, but I suspect not.

I agree.  It’s very irresponsible of Congress.  If you’ve got work to finsh you don’t take time off till it’s done!
