I have a guy at my gym, let’s call him Joe.  Everytime Joe works out, lifting weights, running, boxing, whatever the case may be, he makes porn noises!

Do you know what I mean?  Long extended groans, MAN I WISH WE HAD SOUND ON HERE, like uuuuuuuuaaaahhh, you know PORN NOISES!

It drives me absolutely insane!  I cannot get my iPod loud enough to drown him out.  I wanna go over to him and say “Hey Joe, why don’t you lower the weight before you hurt something“...all the while silently thinking “before I smack you!”  :{.

I promise you he does it on purpose.  If no one new is in the gym that morning, we ignore him as best we can because we are used to it.  He’ll just do it louder until we look!  Then when someone finally gives in and looks to shut him up, he’ll ineveitably go “Whew” and LITERALLY KISS HIS FOREARM!

I DON‘T KNOW WHAT TO DO!  He isn’t violating any rule except the one that protects my brain from HORRIBLE HORRIBLE images!

      PLEASE HELP ME!

        • Lori,
Can you mention this to a staff member? I’m sure they are used to dealing with poor gym etiquette.
What a creep! He is obviously trying to make up for other “short“comings! LOL!

        • How about sending him some mail at the place where you work out, to tell him that his sounds ANNOY you.If there are others annoyed, have them send mail toooooo.

Or, how about telling him that he could probably find a trainer if he is having trouble, since you notice his
PAINFUL noises!!! lol  He may stop making the noises if he thinks he sounds like he isn’t handling the work out.

        • OMG! I have a new neighbor & he does this same thing while working out in his back yard! The first time I heard it I was outside picking up my dog’s poop & was shocked! I stood there in shock for probably a minute before I realized what he was doing!

        • I would just walk over to him and ask....hey joe, are you ok? Sounds like you are having to strain pretty hard to get thru your work out today. Are you sure, you‘re ok?  I’m thinking you may need to be checked by a physician or something.
I would say it loud and clear so everyone could hear! Especially the other guys in the gym, who will probably burst out in laughter.

        • Yeah, i really like the idea of either reporting him to the staff or walking over to him and asking him if he is okay, that he sounds ill, maybe he will ge thte hint. My problem with the letter is from previous experinice sometimes people get so annoyed that they do it even louder.

        • How nasty!  I would think that someone who is in charge might kick him out.  Maybe a few of you need to go say something.  It would be better for them to lose one patron than several..I would think.

        • We have a couple of guys at our gym that do the same. When you‘re working that hard it really is hard to not make some kind of noise (I know I do when I’m pushing the weights or doing ab work). HOWEVER, he’s clearly over the top! Do you think you could discretely mention it to a staff person?

          OR

Make PORNY noises of your own! No...on second thought, that might give him ideas. tongue out
