So, what do you do?
I’ve discovered that my body really likes to run. Not hard running, mind you, just enough to keep my metabolism strong. I’ve been lifting weights, too because I need to keep my muscle tone. I’ve noticed a difference in my body as I turned 50. I don’t look as toned and my skin is getting wrinkly since I lost weight. Not pretty. But I’m happy to say I’ve maintained my weight loss and now just working on toning and shaping.
What’s your favorite exercise to keep your body in check?
I want to add that this morning I tried something new. I started my run on the treadmill to save my joints but then finished outside so I could do some hill training. It was a great combination. Just enough to challenge myself but not so much as to risk injury.
I like fast walking, light weights, and easy yoga for keeping toned up.

Good job Cynthia!! How much have you lost now?
I’m still doing the walking thing but I desperately need to incorporate weight lifting. I think about my Mama and how she had NO upper body strength as she got older because she didn’t lift any weights or really do any exercise so to speak. Now with losing 76lbs. I too am seeing some wrinkly skin and I definitely need to tone.
I’m thinking of hiring a trainer...
It doesn’t matter as long as I just stay motivated to keep moving. I’ve started walking again. I like yoga to help me stay limber, but have trouble getting motivated to do it.
I don’t worry too much about weights because between work and garden and my carpentering projects, I get enough weight work out.

I walk/jog, work out with weights, some yoga and some pilates. I just started (very weakly) p90x to kick my metabolism in gear. I am stagnating in a big big big way!

Without a doubt - weight training. Doing circuits, high reps/low weight, give you a great cardio workout as well as building muscle (no, you won’t get bulky). The more muscle you have, the more fat is burned, even when you are not working out.
Walking and hatha yoga. The plank is good for developing upper arm strength which I seem to have little of. But I do lift weights at the gym too and that helps.
That’s great Diane. As long as we find something we like to do and it works for us - all the better!
Ha! I wish I knew lol.

That’s great Virginia. I’ve found that exercise also helps with symptoms of menopause which is a bonus.
I googled that run in Del Mar and it looks like a lot of fun. I’m wondering if it’s a hilly course. Do you know?
