Q & A

I had a hysterectomy 3 weeks ago. I am now reading in some articles that having one can actually make it so you can’t have an orgasm. What I am wondering if someone out there can tell me if this is true or false.

    • I’m not a physician & I would recommend you talk to yours.  But from my research on the topic it varies from person to person what effects a hysterectomy can have.  I also have a relative who it did, but a couple of friends that it didn’t.

Orgasm is related to blood flow so if nerves are damaged or blood flow slows to the area it can effect orgasm.

However there have been cases that sexual gratification can be enhanced as well. Especially if the hysterectomy was preformed due to a prolapsed uterus.  Because a prolapsed uterus can cause pain during sex a hysterectomy can make an individual more relaxed and often enhance sexual pleasure & increase ease of orgasm.

Sexual satisfaction is also related to stress.  So I would recommend to find ways to say relaxed & calm.  Meditation and/or Yoga may be options.

    • I have had better ones since mine.  Take your time to recover before you have sex but in the mean time that does not mean that you cant enjoy each other in other ways.
