Q & A

Would you tell a friend her breath is terrible? She is on a very strange DR OZ diet- she cant wear make up-use body lotions etc. I can smell her breath 50 ft away.  I have offered her mints/gum it doesnt help. She has stated she hasnt been called on second dates- I think its her breath.

    • MC- she is in excellent health- here is a tidbit from WEB MD:

Bad breath in the low/no-carb sect is often caused by certain chemicals that are released in the breath as the body burns fat. They are called ketones, and entering into a fat-burning state of ketosis is the hallmark of the Atkins diet. So the good news is that if your breath stinks, you‘re probably doing a good job of sticking to that low-carb diet.

    • Well...then she has a choice..have hellacious bad breath or have a longer lasting relationship.  That diet is not the only diet plan out there.  She has to decide what is more important!
Let me ask...does she really need to be on this diet?  Has she tried other diets?  Is this diet working for as far as weight loss?

If she is a close enough friend...I think I would tell her...in a nice way of course.

    • I would Hope a friend of mine would tell me if my breath was that bad! Can’t she taste it?
A lot of the time it’s diet that causes petrid bad breath, if it’s not dental health related. 50 feet away ... Wow!
