This summer, the new tenants next door moved in. They opened up a “after school center” which teaches break dancing. How much of the noise would you take before you just about lost it????
I am at my wits end. I have walked over and asked them nicely to not blast their music and that at 5:00 pm they can rattle the walls all they want. They have been blasting everyday starting up at around 2:15. I finally emailed the property mgmt. company and complained.
How would you handle this?
It’s EXTREMELY annoying as I work in accounting. (so right now I’m not, I’m complaining).
wow, irritating.
Maybe work out a time schedule with them that they can have classes.
MzT....you have no ideal how irritating. I’ve told them they can rattle the wall’s all they want at 5:00 just please be respectul of our time until then. So far they haven’t obliged.
Does your town have a noise ordinance law in place? I would call the police and complain about the new tenants as well as management if there is an noise ordinance in place.
"As you open the door to new relationships and remove the chain from your own fears, God will overwhelm you with new splendor."
Since it’s an after school center it seems that they are starting immediately after school dismissal. If I was in your situation I would complain too. The new tenants need to respect you and if both the tenants and property management company don’t oblige, then report it to the cops.
I’m sorry you‘re going through this and hope it gets resolved soon.
keep a diary also don’t the local council have a noise division with noise measurement where they can record the decibels.
Plus as you have length of service with the owner I would pull rank and get them to come and sit in your office when they kick off ! They need to hear this and you need proof
I wonder if they have a business license for this after school center? If they‘re making money from home maybe you have some leverage over them from that perspective. In any event, I’d call the police or go check and see if there’s any violation of the law that you can use.
is it zoned for that? Resident living has to have special zoning and permits to have a business in the neighborhood. Most city’s do not. Day care is different but if they are teaching a specific dance or dance classes that takes it into a business and zoning for that might not be allowed.
But if it is most cities noice laws are 10 pm
Call the zoning in city hall
It’s not in a residential area. It’s in an office park. I fired off an email to Jill at the property mgmt. co. and she replied that she will send them one more formal notice and asked to get back with to see if they are abiding by her letter.
She said if they don’t she’ll terminate their lease. This is not what I wanted. I know they put alot of time into the place, however, I would think they should have been smart enough to know you don’t move right nextdoor to a phone company (we‘re on the phones alot, etc.) and start blasting hip hop at 2:00 pm. I’m hoping her formal notice will nip this in the bud.
I would have to complain, I can’t take being blasted by hip hop music. It’s not even on my list of favorite music.
