    • At this point in my life, if I were to find myself suddenly single—I’d have to say I’d be in a relationship indefinitely without getting married.  I have no desire to be married a third time.

I was in an on again off again thing with a guy for seven years with no commitment on either side.  I was fine with that.

    • I was in a relationship for 10 years and didn’t marry him. His drinking was a concern for me and, while I stayed way too long, I didn’t want that marriage contract to hamper me from leaving him when I was able to.

    • At this point in my life if I were to be single again I doubt I would do the marriage thing again.  A lot of factors would have to come into play for me to do it again.  Therefore...a long term relationship without marriage is fine with me.  Like Annie said...marriage is not for everyone.  I’ve been married for over 27 years and I have no desire to do it all again with someone new.

    • Just curious - does this coworker have children with this relationship? If so, I wonder what they think?

    • Maryclark, I’m with you!  I don’t want to break in anyone new if God forbid something should happen to my husband.

    • I don’t plan to marry again and I’m not against marriage or feel disappointed by divorce, I just don’t feel a need for it. I do want a boyfriend though. ;oD

Can’t say I’d stay in a on and off relationship for 15 years. Too many ups and downs, too much emotional drama. Nope, not for me.

    • True Annie, marriage isn’t for everyone, but for me I refuse to date any man for more than two years and we not decide to marry. It is a mutual thing on both sides the two have to want it as well as work through all the hardships that will come with it.

    • @Linda...the co worker is no longer in this relationship and she does not have any children.  This relationship ended roughly six years ago.  She says she does not want get marry or have children.  The guy of 17 years has married.

The co worker is now 36 and calls her two cats her children.  I am sure there is more to the story.

    • And Monay, I refuse to spend my “old” life shacking up, but I best not say “never” because you know how that usually turns out. LOL
