    • I’m about to schedule my second bone density test. I had a baseline several years ago because of my family’s history of osteoporosis. My sister, 7 years older than me, was just diagnosed with osteopenia.

I told myself that I’d have another test when I was a year into post menopause but I think I’m going to do it a little early. I weighed myself this morning and I was only 120 pounds. I’ve been running and working out so I expected to be in the 125 range but 120 seemed a little low to me. I eat good, get lots of calcium and protein but I think I need to just be sure I’m not losing bone density.

      Anyone else had one done?

    • A friend of mine just had her second one.  Last year they’d been concerned and had her on one of those medications, but after the second one her doctor said she really doesn’t have anything to worry about right now.

    • Yes, had mine about three years ago, just around the same time when I was really sick and lost a lot of weight and was about 117 pounds and the doctors were very concerned about me losing bone density also.  My mom also has osteopenia, but it seems bone issues run in our family, so at this point I am probably due for another one soon.

Let me know how you make out, Cynthia!estatic

    • I have had one too. I have Osteopenia and two of my half-sisters have been diagnosis have it too. It runs in my Father’s family. I am on high amount of calcium and vitamin D since my blood levels of calcium stay low even with the prescription. I wish you well Cynthia

    • Cynthia...I’ve not had one yet but my doctor just last week suggested that I get my OB/GYN to order one because of having my gastric bypass surgery.
I have to really watch my calcium levels because I don’t get enough protein due to my weight loss.  I have to chew up “calcium citrate” because I do not absorb regular calcium.  So make sure you are getting plenty of calcium.
