And how can anybody possibly give all those children the amount of attention they deserve?  I had three daughters here this weekend and I felt frazzled and like I hadn’t had the time to listen to them all.  I can’t imagine!

    • Wowwwww are they for real?  I do admire them for not being a burden on the Government and has never ever accepted any kind of assistance.  They built their home and made such great investments when they were younger as Realtors when the going was good.  I am aware that the show is helping them with monies as well.  I wonder how she could be preganant for more than half her life.  The last child was sick or had some kind of problem or born pre-mature that would have scared me but to each their own.  God bless her, that sure could not be me.

But hey their life and their choice - wonder if any of their children will follow in their footsteps and have large families or just have only children ??

    • It appears that the Duggar’s have done an outstanding job “training” (THEIR words) their children.  I watched the “Ask the Duggars” program last night and several of the older children were involved in answering questions.  They all appear to have the same focus and beliefs.  I would attribute a lot of the Duggar’s success in training their children to limiting the influence of the outside world, TV programs, Facebook, public schooling, etc.  They are their own community and surround themselves with like-minded people.  I’ll bet they’d be a tough bunch to infiltrate unless you step in line with their beliefs.

One thing’s for sure...it’s VERY unlikely we’ll be reading about any of the Duggar’s being drug addicts, criminals, child abusers, etc!  More than we can say about the Lohan family who only have TWO children, or any number of other “famous” families!

    • @Daphne your right they have their own community and none of the moral value system of the outside world per say.

The Lohan family are a train wreck very sad.

Good luck to the Duggar family

    • We have a family like that here in Tenessee. I forget the name but they are close friends of the Duggar’s and have been on Duggar’s show. This family was featured a couple months ago on I think 20/20. This family has their own tree service Co. and live a few miles from here. The wife/mom had lost a child and was prego again during the show, with I think #13(?) she gets free medical from a local free clinic. She has to take special meds to keep from loosing the child. They live off the “free” clinic as far as having more kids and taking care of them! This is not ,as far as I know, funded by the gov’t. She’s 45! When asked why she thinks it’s ok to do this when perhaps
God is saying you‘re done? She said God provided the technology to be able to save a baby so it can be carried to term and not using the meds would be akin to not doing what’s needed to save life. One of their sons sits on council here in my town. I feel they, and the Duggar’s and others like them have the right idea about keeping their kids away from the outside world. It goes to show us all it can and should be done! Take away the bad music,tv,internet, send a message to these bad influences and turn it off!

If the Duggars can provide for their family, not risk Michelle’s health and attend to the spiritual, physical and emotional needs of their children, I have no qualms.

      They are a beautiful bunch!

    • Daphne...you said everything I was going to say!!  You hit the nail on the head!!

Out of all the reality shows this show..this family is the only one that has not allowed the “fame” of the show to change their beliefs, their values...etc.  They have remained the same group of people from the beginning to now.  As Brimstone said..they made their own money and receive no assistance from anyone.  They are thrifty...they teach their children about what is really important in life.  The kids all seem happy, and from what I can see...none act like they are starving for attention.  Of course we do not see what goes on behind closed doors but you can tell with this family that they live a certain way and they work hard to keep it that way.

I am concern with her having another child.  I do believe her body is worn out but people who have a strong faith such as Michelle Duggar....she believes that God will take care of them.  Obviously....this is the way it’s suppose to be...God doesn’t make mistakes!!happy

      Addicted to pregnancy?
What the hell do they do for a living-HOW on EARTH do they afford that?
Why so many children? Not that it’s my business but I am curious as to WHY.
How does one afford the medical? Clothes/Food/ETC?
      2O kids going to college?
      Is it a religious thing?
Are they banking on the rest of the nation contributing $?
      I don’t get it...

I have 2 boys and I definitely have my hands full!!

    • A long time ago....a very long time ago....when big families were the norm...the older kids did help out with the younger kids just as the Duggar family does.  Is it really a bad thing?  They are learning responsibility but I do believe they still treated as children.

For me personally I never wanted a lot of children.  I have two boys and that was enough for me.  For others...a larger family is what they want.

    • I am shock over another baby but I sincerely admire their family.  The oldest son has his own car lot business.  ALL those boys helped in building their beautiful home.  Some of us have two or three or five kids and cannot get one or two help around the house to knock a nail, we have to hire a handyman.  I admire that they believe in keeping their viginity until marriage.  The moral principles they believe and practice is admirable.  Those girls can play an instrument and so talented.  Have you ever seen them shop at the grocery store?  They are smart shoppers, buy everything on sale and they shop at the thrift stores.  They are all healthy, some wear braces and the Government is not helping them.  Not every single child in the US will be going to college.  Not saying that none of theirs will not be going but going to College.  Right now the country is suffering because a lot of people are not skilled in anything to sustain them.  One last thing I must say they all look happy and the stance they have taken to remain true to what they beileve is a great thing.  We all have to find what will work for us.

    • Tulip...I’m sure with that many...they probably get some GROUP rate...LOL...but I really do not know how they do all that.  Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar are pretty business savy so I’m sure they have things in place to cover their children.  They don’t spend money on things they don’t need.  I think it goes back to putting their priorities in the right order.  Something so many people do not do including myself.

    • Not only is their show a success, giving the rest of the world a peek into a wholesome, religious and loving family, but they each in their own way have given something back to the world as a whole, particularly the US where they live and that is PERSEVERANCE..in a world that is so quick to judge, not being able to use common sense, sucking off the system...here is a family that can do it on just good old fashioned morals and tradition...that says a lot for the Duggars.

I do pray for Michelle, hope she can get through this pregnancy and continue to be the strong matriarch that she is!

      I truly love that bunch!
