    • I spent my first ever Christmas alone this year. I am working in a ski station in the Alps and they are open non-stop during the Holidays. It’s at least a three and a half hour drive to my inlaws; it made no sense to go there and back the next morning so I stayed home. My own family is in Canada. My hubby had bought me a salmon steak and a small Christmas log as a surprise supper- he is such a sweetie! It wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. It is just weird not to see the reaction of people when they receive your gifts and it will be also weird to open my presents by myself when my hubby gets home.

I am looking forward to New Year’s eve though: hopefully lots of our friends will come to celebrate at home! estatic

    • Year before last, hubby and I spent Christmas day alone. It was blizzarding, total white out conditions.

Today, it’s just hubby, one daughter and me.  Son stopped in for a few minutes on his way to his dad’s family event.

    • I have in the past spent Christmas alone by choice. After my Mother died I wanted to be alone. I still had Christmas dinner, opened gifts enjoyed my dogs playing with there toys. It was nice too. I always start the day alone with my dogs, and finish it with friends or family. This year was strange no Robert to share it with. I was really looking forward to sharing it with him.

    • I always spend Christmas alone, that’s been my choice since I’ve been an adult. However my phone is always busy as people call me constantly. Some people can’t fathom spending holidays alone, and stress out when they find themselves alone. I find it to be a great way to reflect on what’s really important.
