This is one that we allll have a story for....What did your mom/dad or elder tell you when you were a child that wasn’t true but you believed it.. see my example if you do not understand.
When I was a weeee one my mom told me if I swallowed a watermelon seed I’d get pregnant (hence she didn’t want me swallowing watermelon seeds) and at a very, very early age... my uncle was over and I went running around the house like a lunatic screaming Maaaaaa I’m pregnant.. I’m pregnant... LOLOLOL I laugh when I think about it.. my uncle was totally bewildered and she had to explain she just said that so I wouldn’t swallow watermelon seeds.. after that I swallowed them all the time.. LOLOLOL
My dad used to tell me that by the time Santa Claus got to our house he was tired of milk and wanted cookies and 7-UP. Funny thing was, Santa liked the same kind of cookies my dad did, hmmm.....
I have to give my parents credit, I don’t think they told us any of that kind of stuff.

I don’t remember my parents telling us kids anything that wasn’t true. I was little then so they might have and I just don’t remember.
They managed to make me believe in Santa and the Tooth Fairy until I was 8.I was crushed when I learned from other kids at school it wasn’t true.
When I was younger, they also made me believe in the “bonhomme 7 heures“. Most kids from my generation in Quebec believed in that too. The “bonhomme 7 heures” was some kind of a half man half monster that kidnapped any kid he would find outside after 7pm.
This “invention” can be traced down in history. When somebody broke a bone, people use to call the bonesetter. This “doctor” would bring the person in a room, close the door and re-aline the bone. The only thing children would hear was the screaming. French folks didn’t speak or understand English well, so with time the word bonesetter became “bonhomme 7 heures“, which means the 7 o‘clock man.
Voila! My little story.
That is cute, Mavikaya! I can’t remember anything from my mom, except about leaving my tooth under my pillow for the Tooth Fairy.
I had the traditional ones, Santa, the Tooth Fairy and also if you eat carrots your eyes would become beautiful. I ate a lot of carrots
I just remember my mom telling me whenever I made an ugly pouty face that it would freeze and stay that way.
Don’t really remember anything else except the usuall tooth fairy and Santa thing.
Oh I remember that line “it’s going to stay that way“.. LOL thanks for sharing
