Q & A

Maryclark’s GIRL SCOUT COOKIES got me thinking of a question. Were you in the GIRL SCOUTS and did you sell cookies? Also, did you get a lot of badges?

    • I was in Brownies for a year or two, but didn’t go on to girl scouts. Our troup didn’t sell cookies, we did the cans of nuts.  I was far too shy to sell much.

I switched to 4-H and won loads of awards, etc.

    • I was a shy brownie and didn’t care much for it so I earned just a couple of badges. My daughter was a brownie and junior girl scout and earned a few badges. One year when she was a junior scout I was the cookie mom it was exhausting, but fun and good experience.

    • I was a bluebird and campfire girl for most of my teen years. Wo-he-lo for the campfire girls!happy I had many beads and a few patches that I sewed on my vest. My parents and grandparents bought all of my candy!
As an adult, I served as a Girl Scout Leader and Campfire Girl Leader because my children were members.

    • First question is what is a “bluebird and campfire girl“?  I never heard of such.

I was never in Brownies or Girl Scouts.  I had no desire to be one and sense I showed no interest and I was the baby of four girls...my mother was smart enough to not push it if I didn’t ask about it.

I think that is why I’m not big into clubs now.  Growing up I would have rathered played outside, ride my bike, played school/house. I played basketball growing up...and learned to play the piano which I cannot play now.
