My worst decorating mess would have to be a quart of brown paint that was supposed to be a warm rich chocolate brown for one wall. I got it on the wall and it just looked black so I tried to lighten it up with some cream colored paint and then it just looked like mud. :(
Luckily the horrible wall is in hubby’s room and he doesn’t care what it looks like. That WILL by my next renovation project though.

I once wanted to paint a kitchen wall brick red; it turned out bright pink. We had to paint over it three layers of red so that the fuchia didn’t come through.
Oh, red is hard to get right. You almost have to have a tinted primer to get your end color to come out looking good. I did cranberry in my kitchen once. It was beautiful, but took LOTS of coats to get it right.

Haven’t had one, I always have the painters to do a test patch. I live with it for a day to see if I can live with it for years.
